I'm thinking it's more about:
Defense is bad
Goaltending is below average
Kid forwards are too young compete with the leagues best
Vets forwards are too old to compete with the leagues best
Then it is about effort and "culture" - Zombie
Great post.
When one says the problem is with the 'vets', at least in my case, it certainly doesnt mean attitude.Horcoff doesnt give a hundo? Smyth has an attitude problem? Yeah right.
Give your head a shake and quit listening to RC thinking its days of our lives in the dressing room.
Its that the vets and our secondary player just arent that good.
Defence is bad.
Goaltending is mediocre.
Kids arent developed enough to outplay the datsyuks and sedins every night.
The vets dont have the talent to shutdown opposing stars, nor chip in with enough offence.

Harding, carle and murray would be a very good start to the offseason.
As far as a top 6 bruiser goes; a chris stewart type would be nice.
But Dont forget, that 2nd line lw spot is still prv's long term.
Hes got too many tools to write off so quickly. Not everyone develops at the same pace.
He'll figure a few things out, and be an impact player for us at some point.

Stewart could probably be had for a decent price, but there are a lot red flags with him.

Ive heard that.
I dont have as much of a hard on for him as whoever that postet is that never stops talking about him.
But
If we could get him at a decent price, at the very least he'd add a true top 6 guy ( unlike petrell, hartakainen etc) with size.
Even if he didnt work out, or the compete level sucks, as i said, that spot is prv's long term.

Gotta think Clowe might be available too if the Sharks miss.
Clowe+Carle+Harding+ a tweek or two in the bottom 6 forwards/bottom 3 dmen and this is a PO team. - Zombie
Clowe!
Hell yes.
I think stewarts top end potential is higher than that of clowes. But hes hit or miss.
U know what you're getting with clowe.
hes mean, has some hands, can play top 6, and shows up every night.

Knock on Clowe is that he's kind of slow, but I think that's the exact player that would mesh well with Gagner.
Clowe/Gagner and either Hemsky or Eberle would make a hell of a 2nd line.

His first few steps are molasses. but he has hands, creates space and goes to the net.
Hes exactly the type of player we could use.
And hes a fukin beast
