A decent start. Getting Carle and Harding and a gritty top 6 will require more though.
- GuyLaDouche

2 of those 3 cost you nothing but salary.

Gritty top 6 will be hard though.

He should be able to spend more of his summer on the ice skating as opposed to rehabbing. It depends on how chronic his feet are. Is definitely his footspeed holding him back.
- Jack-artist

His footspeed looked decent yesterday on that one play that he skated back to get the puck.

The talk is he wants to work out, the cardio is there but he didn't get the all around training he'd want.

Indeed, and that's where we see whether Tambi has what it takes. The team will not fill all holes through free agency and drafting. Sooner or later, they will have to give up something of value to bring in legitimate help.

He never got to work on his leg and core strength. Hugely important area for any hockey player.

Well he was able to fix the PK through free agency and brought bottom 6 grit in that way.

Here's the question, what do you give up for Ott?

You get Ott, Carle and Harding you probably are a threat to be more than just a #8 seed.

Anyone catch that video of Macintyre?

Wish he would've done that to the Nucks.

This Oiler's club needs to keep its 2012 1st round pick and trade away its 2013 1st round draft pick at the draft or early next year just to put in these kids head that they are not trying to be dead last.

This way their is no excuses and put pressure on ST to get in the playoffs...

Losing culture is running through the room and its spreading like my VD.

That is all.

Tambellini can't wait that long.

Need to take the guy whose most Nhl ready or trade the pick for a top pairing Nhl defenseman.

I think Murray is ready to go and will be a top pairing defenseman in 3 years.

Boy Petry has picked up his game.

Hey!
Isn't it also great that in a year where the Oilers have the best PP (haven't seen that since the eighties) there is now a league wide mandate where a ref has to dig a whistle out of his A$$ to make a call.

Makes you shake your head.

As a long time critic of the GM, I'd also like to point out that the team has made some nice strides that isn't reflected in the standings yet.

Last year the team was outscored by an average of .92 goals per game

This year that's down to .39 goals per game difference

The PP and PK are both significantly improved (probably the two major reasons for the numbers above)

And probably the biggest clue we have that the team is turning around is that Cloutier went from a delirious homer the previous 2 years, and is now negative on the team. If his past track record is any indication, that fact that he's thinking the team is horrible right now without much hope for the imidiate future means we're just around the corner from success.

- Zombie

The goal differential is an impressive turnaround. Plus, we're playing (and winning) just as many (if not more) one goal games. Ipso facto: Win or Lose, we're competitive in so many more games than we were in past years.

I figure $5 MILL gets us Carle ... $3.5 might be enough to get us Harding

Honestly that's what I would just assume. Mac never showed emotion like that here. If that guy did say that I won't be shocked if Mac gets charged with murder.

After watching Niemi last night I think SJ offers 3.5 for harding.
