Reinhart's a good couple years away from actually making the NHL.
- Jack-artist

Not pulling a Lb here, but Reinhart is supposed to be the most physically ready for the NHL.

So if the team moves down to get a Dman in trade, also getting a lower 1st but still in the top 10, they can get 2 Dmen in the line for next year.

Sort of like the trade with Tdot I said yesterday.

Swap 1 round picks and Pecks for Franson. Then get Reinhart.

This Oiler's club needs to keep its 2012 1st round pick and trade away its 2013 1st round draft pick at the draft or early next year just to put in these kids head that they are not trying to be dead last.

This way their is no excuses and put pressure on ST to get in the playoffs...

Losing culture is running through the room and its spreading like my VD.

That is all.

In 2008 we had young guys, and Hemsky played pretty well then, but all the other guys suck. Stoll Reasoner Pitkanen Gilbert were a big part of that back then, and in 2006 the whole team was the reason we went far. None of those guys we have now are what they were then or will ever be.
- FiretheGM

Just a correction:

Pronger was a BIG part of 2006...Rollie on his head for 2 months was a HUGE part of 2006...

Much of the rest of the team were just role players that had their moments.

That was YEARS ago, and most of those guys are no longer here... Guys like Hemsky, Horcoff, and Belanger have been complete dog sh1t this year.
- laughs2907

Not making excuses but...

Hemmer has been sporadic but I think just needs to get out of this year...it has not been the best one for him.

People expect too much from Horc...and Belanger...drop them in their correct lines (3rd and 4th respectively) and require from them what those line spots should give and they are doing fine. Both are 3rd line centers, Horc just gets it becasue of his "C". They have been mismanaged. Spot f/o on PP for Horc, none for Bel. All PK f/o for them. Defensive zone f/o for them as needed. All the rest of the f/o should be Gags and Nuge.

Tell Tambs to send Ryan Jones over to Buffalo. Love to see that kid in blue and gold.

And we just cleared the guy who wore his # from the roster.

If Hemsky has an attitude problem in addition with having a horrendous season why would management sign him to that ludicrous extension? No stones to ship him off? Seems like one of many problems the Oilers have with management.

I've also heard rumblings that Ryan Jones has been an unhappy camper for some time.

There really is no problems. This team is no different than any other team that went through a rebuild.

Horc and Belanger have been quite good at their roles as of late. If you want more out of your bottom 2 centers you need to give your head a shake.

I doubt that he is actually ready. I just look at Marincin who was suppose to be ready for the AHL, but once he actually had to play against men he was (frank)ed.

I'm all for "rah rah rah we're angry let's change", but wouldn't this be the 3rd coach in four years that lost the room?

Let Renney go all you want. I'll bet it's not coaching though.

There is probably only 2-3 coaches that would make a big difference on this team and even then I don't know how long that would last.

Having any 18 year old as your 8th defenseman is an awful idea. If you're gonna play one that young, he's gotta play in the majority of games. Otherwise it's just really detrimental to his development...

I may be mixing up where I got it from, but I am pretty sure that I git that from Bob Mac...and reference the "physically ready" part...he is still young and needs to grow as a person and as a player, so his mental aspect may not fully be there...and still it is only about the draftees and who is ready.

I agree, I hope my post didn't come off as if I didn't.

I like what they have been doing...but they have been mismanaged and over played too often. I like the depth they give the team at a position that they have been shallow and weak at for a while.

I was really pointing our top 4, then showing potential depth...really he could be sent to play elsewhere as our depth at D is starting to look good with some moves...

Nope I understood your point, I was just adding.

The problem is a lot of people don't appreciate defensive players.

I love reading the endless "it's all the vets fault!!!" non-sense.

It is the simplest of concepts people, yet year after year they don't get it.

Horcoff plays the majority of the game against Thorton

RNH plays the majority of the game against Moore and Mitchell

Who do you think is going to "look" best? Who do you think is going to have the most scoring chances against and the most scoring chances for?

Wasn't RNH playing against Marleau's line?

Here's the other flaw with your arguement. The vets are on 3 different lines not just one.
