Wow really. That is what front runners do... Trade thier loyalties for wins... I can see cowboy blue all over you....

Way to miss the point. I guess we should have been talking reading comprehension the other day, not reading.

Again, plenty of other teams in the NHL far worse off than NJ regarding fan base. Fan bases are grown. I have 4 kids, my brother has 2. They are all born into a Devil's household and will grow as Devil's fans. Its a process. NJ will one day have a fan base to rival the other big cities. It just doesn't happen over night.
- WayneZ

Again. No offense to you or your family... but... I dont see any other fan base that struggles to fill seats when winning... Even Tampa manages to fill more of thier arena...

And to say that it takes time to build a fan base... seriously... If you look at San Jose, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Minnisota... All franchises newer then NJ, all have sell-outs or near sell outs...

I think its the location of the arena...would you drive into the ghettos of newark at night? I dont think so. They should have built it of the turnpike.

OK closing arguments time. Make your point in a couple sentences and move on... if you actually have a point you're trying to make.

None of them have overlapping geographical conflicts with three established NHL franchises.

This was respectful?

"If NJ sits back in the 1-2-2, focusing solely on defense, they are labeled as boring.

If NJ forechecks as a 5 man unit, sporting more 20 goals scorers than any other team in the league, with their defenders consistently pinching, they are labeled as boring.

Guess the only way NJ can be exciting is to allow the other teams to win.

Meltzer, you mad bro?"

- RooNosHockey

Knowing both Bill and Wayne, there's nothing wrong with it.

I always love the I'm just defending someone else defense. Bill's capable of defending himself (and of banning, if he feels it's necessary).

I've never been to Newark.. But how long ago was this move? Because I can't remeber them ever filling out the arenas for regular season games...

But I'm getting tired of talking about this.... Its going no-where.

Personally I would be embarrassed. Whenever I see an empty stadium I almost get embarrassed for the other team. But I'm not here to convinse you. If you were the only fan, it would be a little lonley.

With no hostility to you, after seeing what Winnipeg's fan base is like, and seeing how long they have wanted a team, do you think it's fair to other cities that will support the team much more that New Jersey gets a good team that can't even draw a full house in the Playoffs? Seirously... Answer objectively..

- RooNosHockey

I'll answer objectively, by asking a rhetorical question. Should Lamoriello and the rest of the Devils Management purposely not build a good team because it's not fair to the other NHL cities for the Devils to be a good team?

EDIT: Also, costs $30 to park...But there is public transportation and several top notch restaurants within walking distance
- Jsaquella

Yeah. It's really easy for me. With Amtrak right there. I just take a train up, my friend gets us Ice Bar seats so we have the meal, then there's a train back at a time that allows for a leisurely walk back to the station. Streets seem safe enough around game times. And the station has a serious police presence (not scary characters, just a number of homeless folks when it's cold out). Didn't go last night because said friend just had double knee replacement.

it's next door to the train station, super easy by public transp.
- Don'tForgetTocchet

Yeah, from your direction it's PATH or NJT. Easy schmeasy.

And if you live in N Jersey, easy to get to via NJT parking free.

It's LI that's not at all easy to get to.

that would explain it...the old one seems to be more convenient to get to...i cant see a lot of hockey fans in newark...and if i lived anywhere else in jersey there is no way in hell im driving into newark for a hockey game.
- Philly1980

The traffic pattern at the meadowlands SUCKED. And being forced to park in the stadium lot and walk through the gerbil tunnel to get to the games. Ewww.

I will admit it was nice to be able to get tix to playoff games at reasonable prices, both when the Flyers were there and when the Flyers were eliminated and I just wanted more hockey (went to Ottawa and Ducks series the year they faced the Ducks in the finals).

Nope, they should be looking at other Cities that could support the team, maybe Alaska, Seattle, Vegas, Quebec, Toronto, Maybe Hartford....

For a player nicknamed the A-Train what a flopper/diver Volchenkov is.
I thought Laviolette played his 4th unit way too much. Briere is still lost.

How much for the train? I know a trip to DC from here is like 60-70 bucks... I would guess its about 30 from philly to Newark each way?

If you have time to take the Septa/NJT that's about it. The Amtrak is $44 each way if you take a regional.

So it would be automatic that those places would have a better fan base then the Devils? Toronto already has a team.

I dont mind how Lavi is distrubuting his Ice Time... Can't overwork our top 6 when there is so many injuries.. We really need them to be as fresh as they can be for Pittsburgh and Boston coming up...

And Yes... Briere is still lost. I hope everyone that said he performs in the playoffs is right... Cause if not... whew... What a season...

Flyers played back to back games. Have to spread the minutes out alittle more to keep players fresh. The Flyers looked like a tired team in general yesterday. I expect them to play much better Tuesday night.

I'd put Alaska and Vegas under "questionable", myself. Another team in Toronto wouldn't be favorable in the NHL's eyes either, methinks. The ticket sales would be fine, but I imagine that market is pretty well tapped otherwise.
