Bill is a big boy. If he had an issue with my observation he is more than capable of responding. I was respectful. I just pointed out that NJ could play with 6 forwards on the ice for 60 minutes, with no goalie, and still be accused of being "boring." No gloatage whatsoever.
- WayneZ

This was respectful?

"If NJ sits back in the 1-2-2, focusing solely on defense, they are labeled as boring.

If NJ forechecks as a 5 man unit, sporting more 20 goals scorers than any other team in the league, with their defenders consistently pinching, they are labeled as boring.

Guess the only way NJ can be exciting is to allow the other teams to win.

Meltzer, you mad bro?"

It's a pain in the ass to get into and out of the area the arena is in. The area is also surrounded by the rest of Newark.

Don't know. I've never put the effort into thoroughly researching the problem. I've been a fan since 86, so i wouldn't care if i was the only fan they have so long as they continue to win. The attendance "issue" is only an issue for those of you looking for some way to cast a negative light on the team. For those of us that love the team and the game they play, its like water off a ducks back.

So the Flyers have a home game on Tuesday, and it's still only being aired on TCN?

Yep. That's about the size of it. Important lightweight boxing action on CSN that night.

Nope. They have a brand new arena, right off McCarter Highway in Newark.

Personally I would be embarrassed. Whenever I see an empty stadium I almost get embarrassed for the other team. But I'm not here to convinse you. If you were the only fan, it would be a little lonley.

With no hostility to you, after seeing what Winnipeg's fan base is like, and seeing how long they have wanted a team, do you think it's fair to other cities that will support the team much more that New Jersey gets a good team that can't even draw a full house in the Playoffs? Seirously... Answer objectively..

I'm sure. He's partnered with Comcast and most people who don't subscribe to Comcast either don't get TCN or don't get it in HD. So....he's probably fine with the game being on TCN

If a team is able to ice a full team and stay competitive, then that's all that matters. It falls on the Devils marketing to get the seats filled. Regardless, NJ certainly deserves a smart organization that knows how to stay competitive.

Again, plenty of other teams in the NHL far worse off than NJ regarding fan base. Fan bases are grown. I have 4 kids, my brother has 2. They are all born into a Devil's household and will grow as Devil's fans. Its a process. NJ will one day have a fan base to rival the other big cities. It just doesn't happen over night.
