A worthy one!

I think with the team getting a complete off day from hockey, the diversion here was comparable. Although other than Ilya, who do you suppose is a big reader on the team?

Military (fictionalize) history. (The Killer Angels is amazing.)
Regency Romance. (There, I've gone all girly on you!)
Literary fiction from before WWII. The Forsyte Saga has paragraphs that are little jewel boxes of language.

But a well-written book in any genre can captivate me.

I will have to check out those recommendations. No Kindle or Nook for me, I'm an old school page turner.

If you haven't already read "The Devil in the White City," I think you'd really enjoy it.

Flyers plane to Toronto delayed due to wind. Non-practice off-days are a little slow.

It's on my list. I haven't read it, but I'm familiar with it.

Edit: I see DiCaprio has bought the film rights. That could be a very interesting movie if done right.

I see Harry Z was returned to the Phantoms, hopefully this signifies Jake the Snake is ready to go tomorrow night.

Nah. He's shot. Worst short yardage back in the history of the NFL. And he's a loudmouth.

I'm assuming there were no injury updates, since they were off? Just wondering about Drez Meszy and Kubina.

The team was very funny last night postgame. I particularly liked Jags's discussion of playing on the fourth line (nobody touched me, if I'd known how easy it was to play on the fourth line I'd have done it years ago) and on why he played last night (the other Czechs were hurt, and a game without Czechs is pretty boring).

Interesting reading about books and authors. Very intelligent conversation going on today.

True Crime and American History are my favorite genres. Ann Rule, Truman Capote, and Vincent Bugliosi are three of my favorite authors.

Anything to do with JFK I find fascinating. The Warren Commission report had me riveted, although it's up for interpretation if it's fiction or non fiction.

Any recommendations for a good nonfiction and a good fiction book to read? I've read some Vonnegut here and there but not much else. Sad, I know.

As I am now home - and my wife reads more non-fiction than me, I asked her for non-fiction recommendations. She recommends The Devil in the White City by Eril Larson and Thunderstruck (same author).

Interesting article on how the NHL is slowing letting the clutching and the grabbing back into the game. Players suspect it's to control concussions. Definetly more chipping the refs are allowing at the blueline by the dmen.

'Twould be nice if they got rid of the hard shell material from the shoulder pads. I feel like I have typed this three times a season - for the last 10 years.
