Sadly, and this is particularly evident in Philly, there will always be a vocal section of the fan base who takes the negative view of everything no matter what. The sky is always falling. Slumping players need to be brutalized in to playing better and if they cant handle it too bad they make such and such amounts of money. Lets dehumanize them and make it worse.

For them being a "fan" does not mean supporting a team and willing them to victory by getting behind them. To them being a "fan" means I paid so I can boo and manifest the frustration I feel for my own crappy life by turning around and dumping on my sports team whenever something goes wrong.

We even see it here in Flyerbuzz from about the same % of people.

You will always find this with big market teams, and teams that have really passionate fans. People have an emotional bond to their teams, and when something bad is happening to them, they get frustrated, just like they would get frustrated with themselves if they messed up playing a game...

Trust me I would rather have our fan base... Booo's, Santa's, Tazer's, Flipped Cars, and all.. then an apothetic fan base that really doesnt care, win or lose... See Columbus, Atlanta, Phoenix....

I watched a 2010 documentary on HBO the other day about Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. What a personal rivalry that was.

The NBA, while not my favorite sport even back then, put out a decent product in the '70s and '80s. Nothing like what it's become recently.

Did your delightful neighbor in the stands continue to attribute the goaltending to "luck"? Also, is he a regular neighbor?
- BulliesPhan87

No. He's a friend of the STH (who himself is a bit on the negative side but not a bad guy, for an accountant ). Yes, there were lucky moments (wide open net waving at puck as it flies laterally through crease...now I can breathe again). But every game has those. Bryz was faboo last night!

Rob Ellis pointed out that Mezzy was the reigning Ashbee award winner and that Timonen is their best defenseman. He said Mezzy had taken a step back this season but there was no way the team was better off without either of them in the lineup.

Rob Ellis has a clue.

Thats back when great players wanted to beat one another. Now they want to play with one and another and dominate everyone else. Its a total joke and just shows lack of competitiveness. I like basketball but hate the NBA w a passion. They had a chance to fix the mess with the lockout and instead let the BS continue so they could get their precious Christmas day games.

Let me guess, he's got a dry, strange sense of humor?

Anyway, if I nunderstand this term properly, I "grok" this post.
