Over-hyped isn't the right word... I think he had a lot of high expectations on him the minute he came to Buffalo. I agree that he needs to develop more. But he's not the immediate answer that a lot of people made him out to be.

He could be a great center, he just needs time to develop.

EXACTLY. He needs time. He wasn't going to be the guy to come into Buffalo this season and push them into the playoffs. He's a work in progress.

Nobody said he was an immediate answer. It also doesn't help that Ruff has him on a line with Stafford who can barely hit the broad side of a barn with a beach ball these days. He's had a lot of nice set ups. Just nobody receiving them that can convert.

EXACTLY. He needs time. He wasn't going to be the guy to come into Buffalo this season and push them into the playoffs. He's a work in progress.

The deals they made this year weren't supposed to push them into the playoffs. Regier said the goal isn't to sneak into the playoffs prior to the deadline. He said they were looking to improve the team long term. That, to me, is what they did. They brought in a guy that's actually a center. They traded a guy who very well may have left in July anyway for a 1st. They did what they needed to.

I never said that they were. It's a good building move. Plus, I accepted Gaustad was gong to be gone anyway. Smart move, especially to get the 1st round pick for him. Hodgson is a developmental move... However, I think too much was expected that he deliver now, instead of a developmental move to build towards the future.

Hard to call his contract a bust after one season, but I will not sit by and listen to anyone tell me he's been good this year. He looks HORRIBLE in most games. He's been good in a dozen or so games, but this year does not bode well for his contract.
