That was Lindy's game plan. Thats how Lindy has the team playing. It works when Ryan Miller is focused.
We'd be an exciting team if we played with speed and pressure and forcing turnovers. More pressure, less time to make decisions, bad decisions will be made by the other team.
But instead we'll just back up into our zone, and every time we get the puck just chip it out and make you come at us bro - theblueandgold
Bingo and spot on B&G.
Lindy's 'system' is pathetic.
There is a reason a guy like Ellis plays his best for Lindy, because that is what he is the best at coaching : 4th line plugs and grinders.
Why did the post lockout team play so well in an uptempo style?
Because everyone was playing that way and Lindy had to, but now that the game has slowed down markedly, interference has creeped back, and everyone is setting out the speed bump style of play, Lindy can use that as an excuse to go back to how he really wants a team to play.
One problem with that : his team doesn't have those kinds of players.
What happened to playing to your strength? |

Agreed .,
Total ice time last nights game Defense
Ehrhoff 24:06
Sulzer 21:16
Weber 20:26
Leopold 18:54
Myers 17:30
Regehr 16.43
just doen't seem right - cabin
the team is coming off of a rough stretch heading into a rough stretch...
--four games in six nights out west
--travel day
--home game vs. carolina and off to boston with the back-to-back begining a stretch of five games in eight nights
if he's playing well, give him the minutes while the others get a bit of a break |

We are to small, if they give Ennis a ton of money in the offseason Darcy should be fired. - SABRES 89
Don't worry about that 89, Ennis will not be hitting any kind of jackpot.
What has he done to earn that? Nothing.
He won't get much more than $1.6M. |

The last 5 minutes we didnt create pressure and chances? Force Boston to ice the puck and call a timeout because their guys were getting worked. Lindy doesnt give them the green light to do that during the game. Its always one guy in on the forecheck, and everyone else collapses back and allows the other team to break out into our zone. Then when we get control, its just throw it right back to them and change.
Its totally on Lindy. You are trying to reach the playoffs, you come out hard every game. Aggressive forecheck.
We make it way too easy for other teams to break it out of their zone because thats what Lindy wants. - theblueandgold
It's long past time for him to go.
A good coach does not mold the team blindly to his image.
Instead he understands the components of his team and then constructs a plan of attack to best fit what he has, and Lindy has never done that except for one year when he was forced to do it.
You can see every single player on the team hesistate when going into the offensive zone, clearly displaying second thoughts not wanting to make a D error instead of just playing freely and instinctively. |

honeymoon is over, my guess is he took a few shifts off, again - homiedclown
he thinks he's in the league to be a scorer...couver, like buffalo, wanted him to bring a physical presence...and he doesn't because he's affraid |

that's not true at all...
from "the hardest working team in hockey" to the post-lockout "ferrari"...
for the years after driere, he tried to get them to play more of a team game predicated upon defense...they didn't have the talent to run like the ferrari although some on the team thought they could
lindy's a bonehead, more often than not as of late, but to say he doesn't play to his strengths is inaccurate |

Is it because he's afraid, or is it because scorers make more money, and players with just a "physical presence" don't? |

Yes, really. We keep hearing him talk about how he wants to be known as a guy who can make plays. That, to me, says someone's whispering into his ear, be it his agent, family or whomever: "you play like an idiot like you did in Juniors, and you'll become a marginal 4th liner at best making the vet minimum. You hone in your skill game, and the potential for a bigger contract is higher". |

You see what the problem here is though right?
Darcy drafted post lockout thinking offense and speed while Lindy has those draft picks and this team as a whole playing defensive.
Pretty comical , wouldnt you say ? |

i get your point, but couver didn't trade away a skill player for a skill player
if that's what he thinks then he's delusional and will end up the fourth-liner that he's trying not to be

Oh, I agree. I didn't say it was the right mindset, just a mindset. He's got to keep up his physical game, and find that "fine line". What makes Milan Lucic so valuable isn't that he can kick the crap out of people. It's that he can kick the crap out of people and burn you on the scoreboard as well. |
