Don't forget that if Austria doesn't make it to the Olympic games because they are knocked out early...

That Vanek could play for the USA.

Myers is better than Pietrangelo as well.

Pommer could be an alternate for USA but who knows.

Miller would be third behind Quick/Thomas.

If Germany doesn't make it to the Olympics either.. then Ehrhoff could play for either Canada or USA because he has citizenship in all 3

Can't discount that one of Faulk/Fowler/McBain may step up as well.

Save me a spot in the "bash Jack Johnson" train.

Most overrated defender in the league. I'm not exaggerating when I say he probably falls somewhere between Marc-Andre Bergeron and Andy Delmore in terms of his ability in his own end.

Whoa whoa whoaaaaaa......Phaneuf? Bieksa? Spezza?

Also you are forgetting Nuge, Iggy etc.

Travis Hamonic will be in consideration for team canada by next season.
The kid has stepped into top minutes on D since day one for the Isles and at 19/20 yrs old is their best defensman. He handles much bigger players like a vet. One of Garth's best picks, not in the first round, for sure.

I dont think that just having a citizenship grants you the right to play wherever you want. The IIHF has rules about that. I think you have to commit to a national program. once you play, you are there.

I always heard rumors of Vanek wanting to play for USA. Has Vanek ever confirmed that he would play for the US?

And Thomas before Miller and Quick? I just don't see it. Honestly if I was running the show Thomas wouldn't even be on the roster. He'll be almost 40 by 2014. I'd put Schnieder on the team before Thomas

I think Dan Hamhuis should get strong consideration for team Canada.

He may not make the headlines, but he has consistently been the Canucks best defensemen over the last two seasons. He's defensively responsible, doesn't take stupid penalties, and puts up decent offensive numbers as well. Also, he throws a wicked hip check.

Team USA will have a well-rested Ron Wilson.

Yep. HUGELY overrated. He may be the most one-dimensional defenseman in the entire NHL, and he's not even exceptional offensively either.

If Myers plays it has to be for Canada. If I'm not mistaken under IIHF rules he's ineligible to represent USA because he had dual citizenship and opted to represent Team Canada at the WJC.

I could be wrong though.

Torts, Laviolette, and Gordon would be my coaches for USA.

Babcock, Trotz, and Boucher for Canada

Ehrhoff wouldn't make Canada or the US roster and Pietrangelo is much better then Myers especially in terms of international play on the bigger ice surface.

I beleive you to be correct. Myers has already chosen Canada. I dont think Vanek or Pommer have ever the slightest shot at making a team. I think they would be 3rd liners if you took play in New York Team.

Jack Johnson is average offensively, and absolutely horrendous in his own end defensively.

Why Cbus wanted him as the centerpiece to the Carter deal I will never effing know.

Pietrangelo has absolutely amazing vision and hockey sense. His game gets elevated to another level when he's put on the larger ice surface because of those two things.

Just like how Karlsson from Ottawa will be absolutely killer on a large surface.

I don't think either Johnson will make the USA team honestly. Guys like McDonagh, Fowler, and Carlson will have already passed them on the depth chart by then, if not already. I think this might be something the Americans might put together..

Suter-Yandle
McDonagh-Byfuglien
Fowler-Orpik
Carlson
