He's also a better player than Roy.

If they made the same amount of $$$
But if u look at production vs salary...
Roy wins in a landslide

even if you weren't i don't care.. in the winter time i sit in an office 90% of the time on the internet or on the phone.. when i go home i have neither. Most of my friends and family know that if they want to call me it has to be during the day or they call my wife.

I may be very active on here during the day (in the winter) but that is because i work in an office 90% of the time and by myself most of that time too, so i get bored and use this to help break up my work.

I work second shift. I don't like trying to do anything before work, because it makes having to go to work that much harder.

I'm hoping a shift bid comes along soon so I can try and get some better hours. Until then, I'll probably be around a lot during the afternoon until I have to go to work.

The only reason why I mention Stastny because i think he is the most available #1 quality center in the market come July and the draft.

No other center is opening on the market.. not even getzlaf.

The last 2 times we have faced Getzlaf and the Ducks he has gotten into a fight. I bet Getzlaf hates us and doesn't want to play with our guys.

I don't see Colorado trading him because he's already got a contract. Their roster could have a lot of turnover after this year. The GM there has his work cut out for him already. I don't see him actively trying to move a guy that's under contact when there are so many other things he needs to worry about 1st.
- HonkFortheGoose

Well I hope you're right
I want no part of that 6.6mil cap hit
And I'm not giving up a player & two high draft picks to get a guy on the decline either
Even if stastny get back to the 22-35-57pts he put up two seasons ago....
He's still not worth his salary or the cost to get him

I get it...
I just don't think he's a "#1"
And his salary is huge... Do we need ANOTHER bad contract?
MAYBE if he was a free agent I could deal with the overpriced salary
But for what we have to give up for him?

Let's just say I hope Darcy finds another option

I guess I'd rather have no one then
Play ennis at 2nd line center
Play Adam at 3rd line center

I don't wanna get a guy I don't like just bc he's the only one who "might" be available

Stasnty best winger in the last 4 years has been Milan Hejduk, Burnette, Wolski, and Svatos.

and he STILL had 50+ assist years. Put him between Pommer and Vanek and see what happens. IMO

But his "ppg average" isn't very good...
Is it?
Certainly not worth 6.6mil
And not worth what we'd have to give up to get him

- jdfitz77

Paul Stastny career:

363 pts in 413 games = 0.8789 ppg
$6.6M

Thomas Vanek career:
433 pts in 532 games = 0.8139 ppg
$7.14M

Certainly not worth the 6.6M, youre right

i agree with you.. i would rather them find another guy that has the potential like hodgson and roll with Ennis, Hodgson, new guy and/or adam.. at center.

Would be nice to have a bigger guy that isn't a wuss bucket in the middle though

I used to work there when it was Adelphia. I know exactly what you mean about 2nd shift. Do they still do shift bids quarterly? Is Kelly Wrobel still in charge?

Stasny without wingers get you .9 ppg

Vanek without a Center gets you .8 ppg

Put them together and see what you get...

Were his wingers any good his 1st two years?
You know who was there his 1st two years?
Joe sakic
Maybe he was so productive bc teams focused on sakic, even if it was at the end of his career

To be honest, I'm not sure why there has been a decline
We could prob go back n forth all day trying to justify it or not

But for me,
The bottom line is that it's too risky to give up what we'd have to to get him and at the salary he'd cost
All for a player that seems to be in decline...
Whether its justified or not

Yes they very well could be there... But with gaustad's 2.25 and Boyes 4M off hte books that about offsets bringing in Stastny.

Plus you get to take who ever is traded off the books as well whether it be Roy's 4M or Staffords 4M or Sekera's 2.75M

Yes Sakic would be a major form of concern for teams..

Its Too risky!!?? We gave Leino 10M for what he did in the playoffs alone.

Risky is not a term that Pegs is scared of.

Roy, Adam, pick will land Stastny.

Avs have 41M in cap space with Stastny on the books. They are in terrific shape.

Whats wrong with the evidence I used. You're trying to make it sound like Stastny isnt worth 6.6M yet we have a player on our team making 7.14M thats contributing less.

Stastny is a quality center and he can be a true #1. I have no doubts that if Stastny played on a line with Vanek and Pommer he would excel. Stastny is available. The Avalanche have a lot of depth at the C position coming through their pipelines, especially with that trade they just pulled with SJ getting Sgarbossa who leads the OHL this year. When the Stewart for Johnson trade was made last year out of the blue Stastny's dad even talked about how it set the team back and they were unhappy.
