I know I was just curious of how you would answer it. - JVince117
It makes more sense for SJ that the Avs. You can't build around an aging star, you can build around Stasny |

Stafford a 1st and a 2nd gets him Imo. - dadeadhead
Our 1st or NSH's 1st?
Our pick is 9th overall right now I think.
If that could get Thornton I would be shocked. |

If that would be all it would take to "start" the conversation than you can count me in. Throw in like Pysyk or Schiestal or Brennan.
I personally want Gerbe to be traded too. 1.5M for him is just too much for what he brings that money could be much better spent on Konopka and the raise for Ennis/Kaleta. - JVince117
I said start the conversation
in the end they would want young players, picks and prospects |

What exactly does Kaleta bring that Gerbe doesn't, other than a bullseye from officials? - buffalofan19
IMO we are too weak at lw to deal gerbe

Gerbe's quickness and fire speed is very nice to see out there but he just has no NHL future with how small he is. NONE. he will get manhandled by everyone.
Afinogenov made a career out of being faster than everyone but Gerbe is clearly no where near Afinogenov caliber.
kaleta brings agitator, big hits, can fight pretty well (ask CLB Boll), and Kaleta motivates the team around him I think.
Everyone else laid down at the end of the WPG game but Kaleta was livid with how the team played and was trying to get in the face of the WPG players after the game. Its that kind of "i give a f*ck attitude" that i wish more Sabres had. |

I agree, honestly I would be willing to do this:
TO SJ: Both 1 round draft choices in 2012, Derek Roy, Luke Adam, Tyler Ennis, Andrej Sekera
TO BUFF: Joe Thornton, Tommy Wingels (could be our 4th line Center) |

That may or may not be the case, but, either way, I'm willing to listen to the reasons for moving Gerbe. However, if it's just to ensure that they can keep Kaleta around, I'm not on board. |

Throw in Winchester and I'd be game. Winchester is a good 4th liner and plays LW better than Gerbe could in a defensive standpoint.
EDIT: I know Winchester is a UFA... just what i'm thinking outloud. |

Does Gerbe exemplify the same skill set as that small guy in TB though?
Gerbe is the size without the skill. |

He doesn't hit anywhere near as often as he used to. Much of that isn't his fault. He's got a target on his back. Take that goaltender interference penalty on Saturday Night in Vancouver. If that's Ennis, then Edler, or whoever it was (can't quite remember), would probably get the penalty for pushing him into his own goaltender, but since it's Kaleta, they give the other guy the benefit of the doubt. I'm not trying to say that it isn't fair. He's more than partially earned that reputation.
As far as the "I give a F*** attitude", that's only recent. It's not going to carry on long term. Let's just say I know that he's looking to impress someone, and not in hockey circles either. |

Gerbe is like a hampster on a wheel.... he tries like hell and is always running around but just never gets anywhere. For all the effort and fire he brings the results are minimal at best. He is a great kid and plays with his heart but at the end of the day he just doesn't produce anything other than sweat, |

we already dealt Miller's #1 best friend in Gaustad... if we let Kaleta go.. I think Miller would tear the lockerroom apart in rage. |

Boston got fooled by Sturm the way Sabres fans were always fooled by Afinogenov.
Thornton's value wasn't as high at the time, though he had a few great years in Boston, his best seasons were yet to come in terms of assists.
Also there wasn't the lack of premium playmaking centers then as there were now. |
