most of that money goes towards Myers raise and the two scrubs brought up next year to fill the empty roster spots - homiedclown
True.
Ennis, Kaleta, and maybe Brennan are the only RFAs that would affect the Sabres.
I read somewhere that they will have 5-7M in space even with Myers raise. |

And the raises to Ennis and Kaleta. Though PK's raise should be minimal |

they will have enough money to get one impact player this off season and a lot of questions to answer for the following season

yea but they can make trades and get rid of salary.
I personally only think the chance of Roy being with the sabres on opening day next year as 35% tops.
Leopold and Roy are probably the most likely to be traded this summer IMO.
I too think that stafford and sekera will stay. |

We have 6.6M to fill 5 spots, not including Ennis raise. |

i say hold leo until the deadline next year..
Roy should be gone but darcy is going to want to win the trade so i would put him at still being here at 65%. |

Kaleta is only eligible for a minimum of 105% of his current contract per the CBA, which would mean the lowest amount the Sabres could sign Kaleta for is $1.02 million.
Me personally, If PK's agent indicates that he wants significantly more than that, closer to 1.5 or more, I'd either lowball him and have him reject the qualifying offer, or just refuse to qualify him entirely.
He's a nice piece, but the Sabres can win without him. |

Whats wrong with the evidence I used. You're trying to make it sound like Stastny isnt worth 6.6M yet we have a player on our team making 7.14M thats contributing less.
Stastny is a quality center and he can be a true #1. I have no doubts that if Stastny played on a line with Vanek and Pommer he would excel. Stastny is available. The Avalanche have a lot of depth at the C position coming through their pipelines, especially with that trade they just pulled with SJ getting Sgarbossa who leads the OHL this year. When the Stewart for Johnson trade was made last year out of the blue Stastny's dad even talked about how it set the team back and they were unhappy. - theblueandgold
Any #1 center would excel on that line. |

We forgot that Hecht's money is coming off the books too.
Will Kotalik and Morrisonn not being in the AHL have any affect on our salary? |

not to be a d!ck but...
YA DON'T SAY!!??
There is no other center available besides Stastny that we could realistically pry away from his team without majorly overpaying. Not only that... .But Stastny is signed for another what 3-4 years? Getzlaf is a free agent after next year.
Spezza isn't being moved
Staal isn't being moved
Backstrom has a full NTC and now has concussion issues
Lecavalier is too expensive and declining (he would be the next highest % to move)
Colin Smith is a RFA
Robidas could be available but no one likes him
Olli Jokinen is a cheap free agent center but will be the most sought after in UFA
Am I forgetting anyone? |

his salary the first half of the year did count against us.
but basically we don't have to see his 3.525 and have to work around it next year. |

Nor should he, they match effort but Gerbe dwarfs Kaleta's point totals.
This is probably an unpopular stance but I think the Sabres 4th line could use a tad more offense punch to it. I'd like to see a line of :
Foligno-McCormick-Tropp
Ellis can be the 13th forward or be buried in the minors and Kaleta can be non-qualified. It's a cheaper line with more offensive upside. |

I dont like Myers at 5.5M already, wish he wouldve signed a shorter term say 3 year deal worth 3.5-4M cap hit and then cashed out when I think he will be at his best. |

So what you are saying is that a team with huge cap space would be willing to ship out its #1 center, for a #2 center, a #4 center and a draft pick. Instead of trying to build around the guy, they would instead be willing to dismantle their team even further and backload with Sabre rejects and prospects.
Did I follow your logic correctly?

We could have gotten a #1 center for him before that albatross of a contract was signed. |
