Konopka would be a very good option... he wins faceoffs like Gaustad and can fight better than Gaustad but isn't Konopka a folding chair defensively compared to Gaustad? - JVince117
he signed for 700k
Darcy opted to pay Mccormick 1.2 mil on a long term deal
which player would you rather have had for this year?

Hawerchuk and Andreychuk were gone by the time Hasek established himself. LaFontaine was injured more often than not. Mogilny was gone by late 1995. When Hasek really started to become known as the Dominator, he didn't have much around him either. - buffalofan19
Doesn't matter.
Satan had Hasek only.
Hasek played with 3 HOFers and 2 future HOFers during his time here.

I thought you meant Konopka instead of Gaustad. Which is what I was saying about defense... But if you are saying Konopka or McCormick its not even a question for Konopka
The only thing I can even find on youtube of a sabre actually doing something against Lucic was in Myers rookie year and Lucic came flying in to check Myers and Myers put Lucic flat on his a$$. - JVince117
I thought that Jason Arnott would have been a really good veteran presence last offseason. He's won championships. He's been around. He's the perfect veteran to have in the locker room, especially around playoff time, kind of like Bill Guerin in Pittsburgh when they won the cup.

Yep, agreed. I thought that made too much sense, which is probably why it didnt happen. Perfect stop gap.

I completely agree. Arnott or Langebrunner would have been very nice additions to have. Look at what they have done for the Blues.
