yes, but they are going to say Voracek was bending down and give him the blame.
The league talks about ending head shots but they will allow this. Its all just talk.

- Marc D

If NK had of brought up his elbow or forearm then I'm all over him for this. Arm was down though. The entire torso and head were impacted almost simultaneously. Go back and watch the replay clip on page 32 and tell me differently.

Kronwall consistently tries to decapitate players, and from what we've been told, there's no place in the league for someone like that.

according to some in this board, there is a place for it.... smh

Agree it was sickening.

That said, it wasn't dirty. Of course it could have been avoided. All hits can be avoided but they are still part of the game.

Jake had his head down coming out of the zone and paid for it. It was a shame it put him down, but it was not illegal.

- 77rams

to quote another...

Heck, in the NHL 2 years ago there isn't even a question about this hit. This is all about the league wanting to make players choose to avoid head contact when they can reasonably be expected to do so while still making a hockey play.

if they got rid of it voracek doesn't get hit
- 2Real

That rule allows rats like Kronwall to destroy people just knowing he wont have to answer for it. Any player with a spine would have dropped the gloves with schenn after that hit. Im sure this has all been discussed but like I said just got home from the game

honestly, i'm impressed with how he's quickly and quietly turned his game around. i simply didn't believe it would happen this year. the team needs him now more than ever. i'm happy for him.
- hammarby31

this is where the team bands together. now if only more than half of them aren't on IR...

so when brendan shanahan talks about hits where the primary point of impact is the head are illegal, he's just blowing smoke? i must be crazy
- flyerscup2011

It was contact to the head, but the rule varies as others have illustrated. Voracek put himself in a prone position. That has to be taken into account.

Put it this way, the Richards hit on Booth a few years ago, was much more flagrant than this.

also, it was a blindside hit
- flyerscup2011

I didn't like the hit, for reasons I think I have stated pretty clearly. But it certainly wasn't a blindside hit. Hell, Jake looked up and saw Kronwall there, so there's no way it could be considered blindside.

if you're referring to the way Kronwall baited him by appearing to start to back peddle, then coming in for the hit as soon as Jake took his eye off him, that's not the same thing as a blind side hit. Jake just has to be smarter and not fall for that kind of thing. Kronwall is known for it.

Yeah, I knew that - was just 'splainin' the context of Lavi's quote.

I was the one ripping Chimera for his tantrum the last 48 hours.

a player was hit in a vulnerable position i thought we were trying to get rid of them
- 2Real

I think he should be suspended.
But it was a shoulder to the head, not from behind.
And Jake was bending down.
Kronwall is a douche, he'll get his someday.

It was contact to the head, but the rule varies as others have illustrated. Voracek put himself in a prone position. That has to be taken into account.

Put it this way, the Richards hit on Booth a few years ago, was much more flagrant than this.

- PLindbergh31

and they actually used that EXACT hit in videos and in writing reference to talk about how they were changing the rules and focusing on hits targeting the head.

So shoulder to head is legal?
I think they want to eliminate head shots, not just elbow to head shots.

richards' hit on boothe is one example the league used when making the new rule, so no wonder.

kronwall baited, lined up and dump trucked voracek, knowing he was going to hit nothing but head. how that can be deemed legal is extremely puzzling to me

If we want a league of 3rd and 4th liners playing the game, the hit was awesome, and from a guy who, like Scott Stevens, tries to end careers any time he can.

I guess there haven't been enough concussions this season.

no suspension for kronwall shanaham reasoning that voracek hit kronwall not kronwall hitting voracek

nhl.com is advertising the hit on their front page so i guess they don't think its suspension worthy

you said it yourself kronwall knew he could either not hit him or hit him in the head or try a hip check

Who's blind side?

You have already said it was an elbow, when Voraceks head hits the back of Kronwalls shoulder. Kronwall must be an alien with his elbow sticking out of his back. That is wacky!

What hit are you watching? Because it certainly isn't the one we saw.
