Thats awesome! Grooming him for the NHL?

If I see a woman at the game holding an iPad with GIFs instead of written signs I'll know to say hello

Heh. I wish. His favorite Flyer is Timonen. Nice player to pattern himself after since he's a d-man. I thought it was amazing that his team finished (this past weekend) at 4-14-2 and he was only a -6 for the year. They were outscored something like 60 to 120 for the year.

Spring league starts in three weeks, so there's hope for a better result there.

Heh. My wife is too busy applauding/booing to hold anything during the games.

Thank you. I have been looking forward to this night for the last 17 years (ever since Howe's retirement as an active player). Was worth the wait!

It's cool that I am happy for Mark Howe, his family, the Flyers family, and for the best Flyers writer out there. I get to rejoice with those who are rejoicing.

Definitely a great role model in Timonen

Keep him playing. One of my regrets is not getting into hockey when I was younger. Only played in high school and now and again for charity or alumni games. Really felt the disadvantage of not starting younger.

Nice, sounds like you've made the rounds. Guess its down to 5 teams then, eh? What are the others?
- funmaster18

Preds, Nucks, Flames, and oddly enough.. Leafs.

Of course Jets, and Wings were the other 2.

...this is the best idea ever, how didn't I consider it? Now I just need a more celebratory Spock gif and season tickets.

Leafs re-signed Grabovsky. Locked up the East with that move.

I'm envious of the kids today who have many more opportunities to play and train than we did in the late '70's.

i think it's a good deal for the Leafs. was probably the best UFA center on the market this off-season.

one of the best 2C's in the league. plays tough minutes, still scores 25 per season.

Leafs have plenty of other contracts to fret over.

I think that the Rangers have a very strong team game, strong team defense, and arguably the best Goalie in the League. I think with an injury to a top forward, or a top defenseman, which they've already had. They would still be a playoff team. An injury to Lundqvist, and it might be a different story.
- MJL

Yea, I think they could survive having a top forward and a top defenseman out for a strech and still make the playoffs. But What I was saying is if they had the Flyers injury issues where we were missing like 2-3 forwards and 2 defenseman out consistantly, then I doubt they make the playoffs. The Flyers might have had what... 4 games where all our forwards were healthy.. and not a single game where all our derfense was healthy... To be able to perform consistant like that is incredible, and I dont think the Rangers Offense would have been able to overcome that... They might be okay after a few games of missing a couple forwards, but not an entire season...

I've seen the Leafs probably more times than any other. I was at the infamous Ty Domi in the penalty box scuffle. I need to get to more games. You're putting me to shame and I live a mile from the stadium

The best thing is the awareness of concussions at that age. Maybe we will see less in the NHL if kids are being better protected as they get older. There's definitely a cumulative effect from concussions.

I got into an arguement with a friend of mine yesterday who is a Rangers fan. I told him that if his team had to deal with the type of injuries we have this year, they wouldnt even be in the playoffs right now.

Think about it.. Every regular forward we have has had at least one significant injury for the exception of Talbot, Hartnell, Simmonds, and Voracek. All of our defenseman have also been injured except for Matt Carle. We lost our Captain and one of the top D-man in the league for at least the season, and the player we were expecting to lean heavily on, JVR, has only played 43 games... half a season.

If the Rangers had to deal with injuries like this, especially to thier top forwards, who havent missed a single game, then I'm pretty sure they would be fighting for a playoffs spot right now... The fact that we were able to deal with all this and still be in 5th is pretty incredible and speaks to the depth on this team... What do you guys think?

- RooNosHockey

I will agree the Flyers have had more injuries and what they've done is impressive. But the Rangers have not been totally without injuries. Callahan is out right now with the "bruised foot." Staal was out for the first 3 mos of the season. He's their #1 defenseman. Sauer is probably out for the season and was playing about 18 mins a night fore them before he was hurt 12/6. They have not gone without adversity and they've managed to dominate the division and conference.

I feel like the Bruins have been freakishly free of any serious long-term injuries to key guys.

I think for home games in the playoffs, they should make the players check into a hotel room the night before the game... Give it a road feel and get away from the family drama to clear your head...
- RooNosHockey

I think the family drama has nothing to do with it. They keep saying there is less pressure to play pretty on the road. When will they get it through their heads that pretty isn't what we want?

Im in Delco so its not that far a ride for me.. I have been lucky.. over the past 4-5 seasons I have probably been to 90% of the games I have ever gone to. A few years back I made it to 25. This year (with the whole buying a house, ring, and planning a wedding nonsense) I havent been able to get out to many. This is my first game since November

19 wins in a row usually suggests a team will make the tournament, unfortunately I don't think they will get in due to the fact they play in a small conference, and don't really have any non conference wins to speak of. Bruiser Flint is a good coach. He's done a nice job at Drexel.
- PLindbergh31

I've been wondering why Bruiser is still at Drexel. Because he has done a good job and I know he's well regarded.

Absolutely agree. Road games are simplified games. They go and put in a workmanslike effort and it shows. At home they try to put on a show and it shows.
