2014 Team Slovakia is looking pretty weak at this point.

Chara and Visnovsky way up there in age along with Zeus. Hossa and Gaborik should still be solid. Meszaros and Sekera.

Halak of course but after that it gets real weak.

Pretty much sums it up. The "golden generation" is done and no one to replace it

Yep. I think he could probably be in the NHL right now, for several teams and be an upgrade on their current backup
- Jsaquella

We'll have to agree to disagree here. I know his numbers look steady in the AHL but give me Bob 10x out of 10 over Leighton (and not just cause he's younger and still developing). More athletic, better lateral movement, more aggressive on his angles (he is a lot smaller though).

There are a bunch of bad backups in the NHL right now. If it wasn't for the contract situations Leighton might have been able to outperform Bobrovsky in the backup role this year.

Who would you rather have Leighton over?

Hossa and Gaborik put on a show at the all star game.
Best two forwards on the ice.

Deslaurier (Anaheim)
Karlsson (Calgary)
Auld (Ottawa)
Budaj (Montreal)

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more.

Auld and Budaj maybe. Both are a complete toss up with Budaj having the edge out of the two in my book. Karlsson and Deslaurier? No way.

OB and I are at the game tonight. Report trolls and don't engage them. Unfamiliar mods will be patrolling. Don't get caught in the crossfire.

On an unrelated note to anything.... Anyone find it odd that teams that "sold" are doing well: Stars, Tampa, BUF (not really a seller because they added a good player), COL?

The parity in this league is amazing

Great, refs are going to be clutching their whistles tonight. Why can't they just let us play?

I'm not a Leighton fan (far from it) but you have to credit him for helping the Flyers salvage the season in 2009-2010. (16-5 .920 save % 2.50 gaa)
He played well in the Montreal series in the ECF, three shutouts in the series.

Leighton is probably a career journeyman, but I would be interested to see if he got 60 starts in a season what he would do.

No they won't.

My guess is either Arizona or Miami.

Otherwise in his career he has been nothing less then a pedestrian goaltender. Truth is we may never know if he got 60 starts. I guess I'll route for him to get a starting job so we can see. Till then, keep him off the Flyers and I'm happy.

Why would Manning sign with either of those teams? He will sign with a contender
