don't forget the GHAPWIP too
...+ playoffs

JVR and Briere are monsters of GHAPWIP

It does share one thing in common with the +- stat, and that is the fact that it is not always reliable.

For instance... If JvR has a reallly good game but takes a penalty with 2 minutes left in the game, which leads to a loss... there is often conflict his number in the GHAPWI... looks something like .943...

You are telling me that a guy can play well over .943% of a game... and it not be considered playing well?

That's the problem with GHAPWI.

Of course. All huge factors. And pretty much exactly what I'm talking about. There's got to be a tipping point, though, right? I don't think that time is near, but eventually something has to give.

If the current Yotes deal falls through then the scales will start to tip sooner than later imo.

I love the GHAPWI (Games He Actually Played Well In) stat. Much more indicative of ability compared to +/-, IMO

It's like QS (Quality Starts) for pitchers!

I carried on my dad's tradition. He saw the '76 Cup skated around the Spectrum ice. You respect your opponents and congratulate them. At least, that's what he did.

Me? I booed the 'Hawks and Bettman before I cried my whiny self to the parking lot and across the Whitman.

JvR is soo much more bro about it, blocking the other teams shot with his foot.. and doing it in the regular season. You know he did it on purpose so that he would be fresh in the playoffs. What a smart player.

But '76 was a sweep, so the end was not a shocker like whatever happened at the end of that game.

I don't think I said a single word the rest of the night. Just thinking about it is disappointing.

I shed a few man-tears during the "Let's go Flyers!" chant as the Cup was doing its laps....
