just to put it in perspective, Landeskog, as a rookie, has already played well in 24 games

Would you trade JvR for Landeskog? Hypothetical question of course.

With all the injuries on both sides tonight, I wonder if anyone has approached Mark and Gordie Howe about playing in the game.

I thought we looked really good when all these key players were in the line up 2 weeks ago (Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Bertuzzi), we might actually stand a chance tonight.

hopefully with all their injuries we can steamroll the wings. but, i'm not dumb enough to expect that. detroit is a very deep organization. should be a good game.

Avalanche should've taken Adam Larsson.

Not with JVR faking injuries to avoid being trad- wait, the TDL has passed and he's hurt again?? What is the meaning of this?

So you think Landeskog's potential will be greater then JvR?

I love the GHAPWI (Games He Actually Played Well In) stat. Much more indicative of ability compared to +/-, IMO

Good luck with which part, exactly?

And by long time, I mean it's going to be a while, if ever, before leagues stop expanding and actually contract. But at some point, particularly in the NHL, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Philly, Chicago, NYR and Boston will get sick of carrying the rest of the league.

Cutting ties with unsustainable teams. The league (Bettman and greedy owners) put itself into this mess and the league can dam well fix it. And by fix it, I mean throw money at those teams (ala Coyotes) and not kick them to the curb. NHLPA will not take kindly to the prospect of job losses for the players. Plus there is all the support jobs that go with an NHL franchise.

It does share one thing in common with the +- stat, and that is the fact that it is not always reliable.

For instance... If JvR has a reallly good game but takes a penalty with 2 minutes left in the game, which leads to a loss... there is often conflict his number in the GHAPWI... looks something like .943...

You are telling me that a guy can play well over .943% of a game... and it not be considered playing well?

More power to JvR then. I don't want to trade him at all. I felt he was playing very well when he did play (including this last brief stint). I feel he'll be the perfect winger for Giroux in the near future and trading him just to trade him isn't the answer.

Of course. All huge factors. And pretty much exactly what I'm talking about. There's got to be a tipping point, though, right? I don't think that time is near, but eventually something has to give.
