Don Cherry is a hockey visionary, legend, icon, who in one ten-minute rant confirmed everything I've (also) originally thought about him: He's a narrow-minded, xenophobic idiot who turned a personal vendetta into a CBC circus.

Doesn't excuse Burke's actions in the slightest, but Cherry's the one who let this beef run off the tracks.

I can't stand burke with his sleeves rolled up and tie off trying to give the perception that he's hard at work getting dirty if you will.

He gave Wilson a 1 year extension in December then fires the guy? The ownership group should be livid that was nothing more then a golden handshake and a waste of the organizations money.

I started getting fed up with him with, when he was always pro canadian and disliked anything USA,Euro, and for Subbans case, even black.


Cherry is a racist, and he's closed minded.

As a Leaf fan, The most annoying things he's said is things like this, and how he loves Zigomanis and said he was the reason why our PK was terrible, because he wasnt on the team.

I like Cherry, from the strict standpoint of entertainment. His opinions are often outregous and outright ridiculous. But He on there for that reason and that reason only.

Burke on the Other hand doesnt own his own show. Yet he himself thinks he does. He beaks, beaks , beaks because he loves the attention.

I will say this tho. The only reason Cherry frequently charges Burke is because he knows that he is the one individual who create these interesting confrentations. As annoying as they are.......

Totally opposite, actually. Burke doesn't love the media anymore, not in Toronto, at least.

You wouldnt know because it's more of a Toronto Media thing, but Burke declines interviews all the time, and he's declined CBC interviews all the time.

The only time he's active with interviews, is when he has to say something. Trade deadline, coaching change, trades.

Other then that, you see GM's get interviewed after injuries and things like that, but not Burke, because he truly hates the Toronto media.

He tried to get Tavares, and tries to get Nash, he's most likely tried to get Getzlaf.

He fired an American coach, hired a Canadian one, and a Canadian assistant.

Most of management is also Canadian.

Since he took over in November 2008, here are the FACTS:

59 Players Have Been Brought IN (some may not have played at all, i.e. Kolzig, but are included to see what kind of players he's bringing in)

Of those 59 players:

35 are Canadian
15 are American
9 are from other countries.

Of those 35 Canadians 9 are Ontario born (only 6 shy of the TOTAL US born players brought in)

What i mean is, to you and me it will likely matter. But to the general public, who only see the big team play, will they care that they have the most Ontario born players in their system?

Whether you agree with it or not, the likelihood is they won't

and again, I'm not saying he or Cherry is right. I'm just pointing out the optics of everything
