Two picks later in the round-
Anything over #5 is a crap shoot.
I rather parlay them and get a proven player who doesn't have to spend time in Roch.

- Purple Eagle

Totally agree.

We have right now Buffalo's draft pick is 9th overall and Nashville's is 25th.

You cant just sign Parise cause you want to...didnt work so well with Richards.

No, Vanek isnt worth what he makes, but that's the way it goes. If you want more picks or prospects for him thats fine.....I don't. i dont want to wait 3-5 years for these prospects and picks to MAYBE turn into something. I want a proven player in return for him.

- Homer

I would only trade Vanek for picks/prospects IF we had something done to bring in a NHL proven guy to replace Vanek immediately such as a Parise.

I'd bet that COL would look at TV+ for Landeskog & O'Reilly+.
Again, my ideal team would be three sound #2 centers w/a total cap hit under $12M.
We already have a good shot at Tropp/McCormick making it as our #4 and Fish making it as a #3 for under $3M.
Leaves us $9M for two more.
Hell...offer sheet O'Reilly.

is he worse at shoot outs? I heard on a pregame that Boyes is either the 3rd all time in SO goals or percentage, not sure which....behind only Datsyuk and one other player...that player escapes me, but I know it wasnt Al.

I would actually be interested in seeing a up to date, all time list for that. I'm having no luck with Google...anyone?

That and that would mean they would lose one of Suter or Weber.

They can't afford 4, 7mil dollar players.

Why would you think that Colorado would trade their 1st round pick from this year who would win the Calder this year??

He is a LW that is making 3.75M in his rookie year.

Im neither a Pens fan nor hater, but I'd like to see him back, good for the game. Plus him back for the post season would make things real interesting.

I don't think Colorado moves Landeskog for anything. The kid is a beast, makes everyone around him better, and will be a GREAT player in this league.

Boyes is 3rd all time among active skaters in shootouts, behind Pavel Datsyuk and Jussi Jokinen respectively:

Hopefully they have pin pointed the issues at hand and he can confidently move forward. I feel as though last time they had not totally identified the source of the problem. His visit to the spine specialist seems to have at least helped with all of that.

Landeskog brings good bang for the buck.
He's @ 41pts this year so far on a line no better than we have right now.
Never said we would ask for COL's 1st.
TV+ (picks/players) for GL & RO'R+ (picks or players)

If we're talking Vanek, I'd be willing to bet that a team like COL that is weak at wing next year gives a listen.

Landeskog is a wing though, so I dont see why they would entertain that idea.

I think the Hodgson-Kassian trade proves that, unless it's a guy like Crosby, who instantly starts dominating games, anyone can be had for the right price. You're just going to have to give up something very valuable for him, most likely a blue chip prospect, rather than a guy like Vanek, who, while talented, is also really expensive and may create cap issues down the road.

Interestingly enough, Kotalik has the edge over Boyes in shootouts, except Boyes has attempted about 14 more.

Then we throw paper at O'Reilly.
What will he fetch?
$3.5-$4M tops?

Landeskog > Hodgson/Kassian

Colorado would be insane to move this guy. He hits everything that moves, has a scoring touch, is a great passer, and as I said earlier, makes everyone around him better. He will be a huge part of their core going forward, especially if Statsny moves eventually. They have cap space, and they've also got him for 2 more seasons before he goes RFA. He'll make huge money down the line, but unless something crazy happens, he's as good as claimed.

That said, they did move a first rounder for Varlamov, so I guess you never know.

I set the over/under at 10 games.

I wish it weren't like that.
