I think the big problem was that you had guys like Coffee, Bourque, etc.. and that he (unfortunately) lived in his fathers shadow for a while.
- jak521

yep Langway, Chelios and Wilson were pretty good too..

I think Howe was better the Borque, Idk about coffey tho....but then again everyone on that oilers team just made everyone else so much better...do you really think Fuier (sp?) would have been as good of a goalie on any other team?

I think each of them has a case of Valley Fever from their last trip to Phoenix.

Yea, but when you know your team is good for 12-15 goals a night, how good do you really have to be?

Whoa whoa..... Howe was a fantastic defenseman no doubt about it, but he wasn't better than Ray Bourque in any way, shape or form.

Wright has the suspected torn rib cage cartilage, Ike Davis has the Valley Fever.

I wouldn't take him over Bourque, either. But I would take him over Paul Coffey without a moment's hesitation.

It isn't a crime to not be as good as Orr, Bourque, Robinson, Potvin, etc.... Those guys are among the best whoever played. The HOF has different wings to it, simply being in the HOF in any sport is an incredible achievement, but there are different levels.

Yea, maybe all Bryz needs is the team to play defense in front of him. I was really impressed by the way the forward picked up trailers, and cross ice passes, and kept the Washington forwards from entering th slot. All the Caps shots were from the outside or bad angles, and the forwards and D were picking the trash up out front. Now we just need to work on getting the puck out of the zone when there is a stong forecheck. I almost died watching Briere in the last minute fumble the puck away about 3 times on what should have been clears..
- RooNosHockey

The Flyers gave up at least 3 point blank chances in the slot from an uncovered late man coming. In which Bryzgalov made some very good saves. The defense was better, but still needs to improve.

I can definitely agree with that. Coffey's prodigious numbers are partly because he played with 6 Hall of Famers in Edmonton. I think Mark Howe was much better defensively than Coffey was.

Oh, that's right. First week of March and I already can't keep the Mets injury woes straight.

Flyers generally never win games by only scoring one goal. Ladies and gentlemen this is why we got Bryzgolov.

Howe was a once-in-a-generation player in his own right, in that he could have had a HHOF-type career as a two-way forward and made the transition -- with very few hiccups -- to being an elite defenseman who wasn't just a fine offensive player but also outstanding in his own end of the ice.

Bryz is the man. Patience is key. He is playing his best hockey at the right time.

Absolutely. Howe was an elite defenseman in every sense. Equally good in both zones. He didn't start playing in the NHL until he was 24, he was certainly plenty good enough to play in the League much earlier than that.

Wings could be without Howard, Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Kindl tomorrow.

Sorry, but if I'm only going to see them once a year, I'd like to see Lidstrom (may never get another chance) and Pavel.

Like I said earlier.. it would probably benefit the Flyers to have those guys in the lineup..

Butsy would be losing his marbles (whatever marbles he has left) just thinking about guys with no NHL points, and a backup in net.

Speaking of Butsy, where the hell has he been lately??

Screw Datsyuk and Lidstrom, Milbury says they are Euro-Trash. Get the two points.
