id rather make the playoffs vs the rags & lose a 7 game series, then not make it at all... It would do so much for this team to play them in the POs... Its imperative for the "rivalry" to matter again.

I might be the only person who felt this way but I was furious when they let go of Alexei Yashin. He might have lacked his poise when he was with us but god knows that we need a player like him to be on our team. At least when he was with us, we made it into the playoffs!

We also had a better defense and better/stable goaltending when we made the playoffs. Let's not pretend it was all Yashin.

Edit - Really guys, I think it's a testament to how far we've fallen that we're pining for the days of Alexei friggin Yashin. I'll throw the ol' Neil Smith retort at you guys...if he's so good, how come no other team wants him?

no no no... that would've been my wrist cutting joke/gif, while I will admit to it being semi inappropriate, the thing that bothers me was it wasn't directed at a person, it was a joke and this being the internet anyone can find so far worse things said, done or shown than on this message boards. To me its laughable this world today, everyone should live in a bubble and be protected from such evil like me

I wasn't too happy when Yashin was bought out. There was alot of problems with this team and he was just the scapegoat. Alexei was never given any linemates to play with - well good ones anyways. He spent his time here playing with Kvasha, Asham, Parrish, Blake, and Park. Our goaltending situation was all (frank)ed up too. Had Yashin only made 6 million a season fans would have loved him, but since he was offered a massive deal and all he did was sign (who wouldn't??) he was always the whipping boy.

Nobody said he's in the same league as either of those 3 (although while I think Kessel is a better player for sure, I don't think it's by much). However, something that he is, is a player that 26 other NHL teams haven't had for the past 3 years.
