Good morning hockey fans. Ok since I have been negative this past week the Islanders have been winning so I am goign to continue to trash this team. I am not getting my hopes up we are 5 points behind and that is the closest we have been for a while but this team always breaks my heart. So here we go. This team sucks and will unless Snow does somethign or fires the Captain Jack.

Oh and I have been reasing the comments and once again DP has no business being with this team no longer. I hope he does come back in way so the fans can boo the hell out of him and then see that priceless look on his face like why are they booing. That was classic this year.

A. I agree..

B. It sounds like everyone is now starting to get concerned with Nino's lack of production. Can you take me off the cross now... been up there for a few months.

(PS I never said I did not like the kid.. just was concerned with the lack of pucks getting to the back of the net from a 5th over all pick).

- niteislander

Nino has been a bust so far. No question about it. But its hard to blame Nino. Its Snow's fault for throwing him into the NHL waaaayyy too soon to help the team get to the salary floor at the expense of Nino's development and Cappy's fault for playing him with plugs like Wallace and Pandolfo all season on the fourth line for 8 minutes/game and instead playing a bum like Rolston.

Nino should have been sent back to Portland after training camp. He should have been sent there to play in the playoffs when the team could have sent him there recently. That's two mistakes by the team in dealing with him. Hopefully, they won't make a third mistake and put Nino on the NHL roster to start next season before letting him develop a bit in Bridgeport.

Agree. With all the things that have gone wrong this year, they win 4 more in a row ( yes longshot) they will be right in it.
- Isles316

they need to win four in a row AND hope the five teams in front of them lose all their games. They are only five points out, but they have to jump over five teams to get into a playoffs spot. They need to get ahead of a few teams in the standings before they can seriously think playoffs.

Why bring RDP up? Seriously? He's an afterthought at this point. Mark my words and I'm only saying this based on a gut feeling, assessing the potential landscape of the NHL after this summer's CBA is renegotiated: RDP will not play another game for the Islanders. He will be either bought out this summer if an amnesty clause is included in the new CBA or Snow will waive him and bury him in Bridgeport to back up whichever of Poulin/Nilsson are still there next season, just like the Rangers are doing with Avery and Redden. RDP's Isles career is over.

The frustrating part is this is the team we all hoped for last year. This is the team we wanted on the ice. Why they signed and then kept the Rolston, Wallace and Pandolfo nonsense all this time is beyond upsetting.

Ryan Strome had a 5 goal game for Niagara yesterday fellas.
- jimbo83

That's nice, but nothing to get excited about. He scored those goals against a goaltender that was actually a forward for the team who had to dress as a goaltender because the starter got hurt and for some reason the team didn't have a back-up goaltender at the game. So, take the six point, five goal night with a grain of salt.

Most likely by the time they play thursday they will be 7 or 8 out. It's 5 points but the leap frogging over everyone is the real hard part. Get 5 points this weekend and see where you are next Tuesday vs. Washington. If its 4 or less you are in it,. I think it will take 4 points in their next 3 just to stay 5 points out.

If he was playing for any other franchise then I would agree, but you can't tell me you will be shocked if he is in the picture next year. Wang is a facking joke and we all know it. I'll go on record and say we aren't even close to the end of the DP saga

I like the way you think. They should have done this since the beginning of the year. I just cant imagine next season with him. The way the Islanders are talking it does not seem he will be with this team anymore

I hope you are wrong but I know what you mean. This is the Islanders and they dont think logical. My thing is with Nabby in net see we are close to a playoff spot if DP was our starter forget it we would be battling Colombus for the number one pick.

hmmm not yet I am working on it, There is so much to complain about with this team. Rolston is gone so that does not help and so is Mottau. I guess the next goat is REasoner but for some reason that is not as fun as making fun of Rolston

True, but its painfully obvious right now that RDP is fifth (maybe even sixth if you think Koskinen is better than RDP) on the organzational depth chart in goal. Truth is, Wang is going to have to pay that salary whether RDP is on the roster or in Bridgeport. Thats why I think he actually cuts him this summer, especially if it won't count against the cap if the team ever improves to the point that Cap space will be important. If he cuts him, he only has to pay 2/3 of the remaining money, saving himself some out-of-pocket expense. He also does his friend a favor and gets RDP off Long Island, to allow him to try to resurrect his career somewhere else.

Honestly, I think that the buy out this summer, amnesty clause or not, is the best thing for both sides from both a financial and hockey standpoint.

I really hope you're right on this. On a side note I really like what I see out of Ullstrom & Cizikas. If they can only get a couple of good young D-men and then we can get excited

Even if there is an amnesty clause, DP wll not be bought out.

Regardless if Nabby is signed or not, DP will be in camp

Is this a hunch you have? Because I don't see any point in RDP being in camp, unless its for the purpose of letting him play his way off the roster and onto the waiver wire.

Exactly the guy cant move anymore he hurts the team more then he helps it. I mean if the Islanders are serious about winning anything they need to find a way to let DP go on his merry way. I mean he can always geta job as a model or maybe take over Butches job. Maybe he can be a doctor he has had so many surgeries he would not even have to go to school

It hampers the teams reputation even more so whenever he actually plays. He is statistically terrible when he does play and anyone can see that he can barely move.

I have to imagine he'll at least be in camp. But, I agree with you that his playing days on LI are likely over come this offseason. The drafting of Nilsson and Koskinen (plus Poulin) signaled the coming end for RDP a few years after they were taken.

That is why he should not be with this team anymore. I mean we dont even get updates on his condition at all. In the past he would be mentioned a little like he was close to coming back or they catch up with DP and he says something but it is like he is not part of the team as of right now and the Islanders are moving on. I am a big beleiver that Nabby will stay and hoping he does to groom this younger guy. If Nabby wanted to get traded or get off this team then I am sure Snow would have granted that and traded him for anything

I agree with you ...... You may disagree with me however..at least Reasoner tries...he has gotten some scoring opportunities in the last couple of games. Snake bit!!!!! At the beginning of the season he was horrible....I"m sure some of his failure goes in tandem of whom he plays with to wit...Rolston ( who has to be the laziest player I have ever seen)

let's hope no RDP ever again

Reasoner is at least good on the draw. Best on the team at 54.5%, not counting Ullstrom winning 4 out of the whopping 6 he's taken. He should have been on the ice to take the draw when Frans lost it and the Caps scored to tie it.

No I do agree with you with REasoner. I actually like the team the way it is right now. I think Rolston held this team down and took up ice time that we could have given to a younger more energetic guy. They seem to be playing decent with what they have. That is why I think it is important to keep Nabby around. When he is net this team looks different and tries harder.I think it is because they trust he will make the save and dont have to play a huge defensive game
