Yea but there only top 5 pick was Kadri since the lockout... Edm has had 2 number ones and a top 6 in the past 5 years!

HAWKS...
#3 overall - 2004
#7 overall - 2005
#3 overall - 2006
#1 overall - 2007

PENS...
#5 overall - 2002
#1 overall - 2003
#2 overall - 2004
#1 overall - 2005
#2 overall - 2006

OILERS...
#6 overall - 2007
#22 overall - 2008
#10 overall - 2009
#1 overall - 2010
#1 overall - 2011

To say the Oilers are an example of a team who could not pull off a rebuild isn't fair at all... I think people forget that the Hawks/Pens didn't do it overnight. You're blinded by the teams they're icing at the moment.

Thanks .Not too worried about Kass. His buddy Foligno will be in the line-up tonight but not sure if he will match the minutes kass will get. Gonna be a great game regardless .

look at the bright side you could have Vanek instead of those last 4 1st rounders and still suck because your GM doesn't value Defense
- billyk

Well the whole Vanek thing involved Lowe, not Tambs... Tambs has addressed the need to improve our D. We do have some great defensive prospects, but of course they are years away... Hopefully we draft Murray this year at the draft.

If you say so. Defensemen are more valuable than wingers in my opinion. If Eberle and Yakupov become elite, and Myers also becomes elite, then thats a decent move I guess, especially if you have balance down the middle going forward.

If just one becomes elite, and Myers becomes elite, terrible trade.

I think Eberle could become an elite winger sure, I think Myers could equally become an elite dman, Yakupov is a crapshoot who is undersized for the game he plays.

So call it what you want, I have actual, non-OMGMYERZISDABEST reasons for my opinion.

- nfph

I have no fault for you wanting Myers.

Ebs is a point per game player...which is elite considering that 60 is avg 1st line production.

Top 5 pick, I do not believe that Edm's pick will be better than that since CBJ has a near guarantee lock on #1.

As soon as you say both of these, and that is not enough I walk.

I can overpay...be happy but not like that...

I will give our 1st and our 2nd, these bringing your to 4 picks in the top 35, I will add a couple of roster players/prospects within reason, I will even listen to a tweak to it, but there are certain pieces that I would not entertain.

Not good enough? Ok, fair "nuff...enjoy your borderline playoffs existence.

Great D prospects are hard to come by. Just look at how many are in the nhl now VS the forward crop. Pretty much the reason why we keep Myers at all costs. But then again even Gretzky was traded

You should try to not sound so arrogant. Have fun lurking in the basement with your draft picks.

We have 4 picks already in the top 40 this year. We dont need to stock up for some kind of rebuild....you need them more than we do

My love for the Sabres always brings me back.

You mods are way too uptight. I state facts. You want me to say the Sabres are the best team in the world? I can but that would be a lie and that's against my values.

- DrPhil

Fwiw, it was another mod who banned you. I really hope you did reach out to the admin on this site, perhaps they'll finally give you the IP ban you deserve.

that would be a good pick for you guys, you need d to step right in, the bad part of all those high picks is they will all come up for big contracts at around the same time, the clock is ticking for you guys, when you start players in the NHL right away they get the big contract sooner

Taking this the next step, Edmonton is coming to us with this offer. We have no reason to trade Myers, so it looks like we will be enjoying that existence together.

Damn Pocklington and his financial problems... If Katz was around back in the day, there's no way he would have let that happen... Unless Gretz requested a trade of course. Than again, there's no doubt that Pocks was persuaded to move him in order to grow the game of hockey down south.

Hey, everyone is welcome as long as they agree that the Canucks are the bestest team ever so far during the 2011-2012 season in the western time zone.

Aint arrogance, it is the cold hard truth....you guys are gonna be like Calgary...perennial almost there's....all this money spent and just lingering around the playoffs at the end of the season.

i admit there is a need for stuff on my team...thus looking at a move for a Top 2 Dman....keep your head in teh sand ostrich, you'll be fine

Hi Ladies,

Going to come out and say i'm not sure playing Miller is the best idea. A 6-1 shellacking could reverse much of that confidence he built up in California.
