Has to be a happy day for you Pirate fans.
- Gunner Staal

Not really a Pirate fan but I pay attention, my take: Great. Now do that with a few more players. One signing does not erase the 20 years of impotence.

It definitely is a nice showing for the die hard fans though. Some sort of commitment and willingness to spend a bit of cash.

Its a nice first step to credibility. I just saw that the Pirates are indeed home during the NHL draft. I love going to ballparks I have never been to, that might be enticing to take in the draft and a ball game.

It really is a beautiful place to watch a game, esp. at night. 3rd base line on 2nd or 3rd level is an awesome sightline to see.

If anyone is doing that that weekend, maybe we could all meet up, have a beer, etc.

Those are just my preliminary thoughts, actually convincing the wife to watch our 2 kids for the weekend and executing the plan should be an interesting dynamic!

I have 3, but I wouldn't be shipping off from Buffalo, and she owes me like 6 weekends because of various women's retreats that I have bitten the bullet for over the years

Seems that both of our pathetic organizations have signed a player they needed to today.

Stevie Johnson just inked a 5 year deal with Buffalo. Beggers cant be choosers and he is the best we have.

He is a good reciever when he keeps his emotions in check, if he develops the team-before-me attitude, he will really come into his own. Most recievers think about turning and running before they catch the ball, resulting in a drop. Stevie is turning to celebrate and then drops it.

To be honest a lot of it has been overblown. He will have to dial it back regardless.

The one that sticks out to me was when he questioned God after his overtime drop in the endzone against the Steelers 2 years ago. who does that?!?! Get his head on right, and he will be great.

Kennedy working with #Pens top PP unit. Kennedy, Kunitz & Neal up front, Malkin & Sullivan at points -SK

ooof....

I get that without Letang, the power play is in trouble and they are looking for a spark... But this has shorthanded goal breakaway written all over it.

'Kennedy shot goes wide of the net and takes a long bounce off of the boards, where it is picked up by Vrbata and hes has Doan with him as they go the other way on a 2 on 1 break ....'

If Kennedy is in the lineup I take him 10 times out of 10 over Tangradi to play the PP.

Edit: That chemistry sentence I had there wasn't meant for that comment, don't know what happened.

And you know that Malkin will rotated down a little to the face off circle, leaving Sullivan on an island that the center point.

the way tk has been playing this yr, idk....

its close in my book but i just think a big body in front of the net might help... that way "no goal" kuni doesnt have to deal with it

Kennedy would be a better choice on the PP, but I have to say Tangradi has looked better this time around than previously.

I still wish he would play a more physical game; I've seen him pass up a few too many hits along the boards for a man his size, but he's done what I would expect from someone playing w/ Adams and Park on the 4th line.

Well to be fair Tangradi could have only gone up from the level he was playing at in previous callups.

Ture. Previously, he just looked out of place in a 4th line role w/ guys like Adams & Park. The cycle would more or less fall apart and he'd be slow getting back on D. Tandradi just looked lost as a 4th-line guy.

This time around, he's been better on the cycle, gotten to the front of the net and battled a few times, and at appeared (at least to me) to be making a solid effort to get back on D rather quickly (ie, he looked faster getting back and more responsible when he got there). To be fair, he hasn't scored a G or gotten many points, but I can't say that playing with Adams or Park on the 4th line really lends itself to that very often.

I guess I just saw some solid improvment in playing Bylsma's system and knowing his role. Wondered if anyone else saw the same thing?
