Agreed, would love to have Benn to round out our top 6 - abware
yup. of course hes not available, and any gm would be insane to deal him, but with benn in our top 6 we're in the playoffs next year.
hes exactly what this team could use.
huge, hands, good shot, can skate, mean. etc etc
everytime i see him, im blown away by how dominant he is.
and hes just a kid |

I can just about guarantee the Oilers won't have Musil, Klefbom, Marincin or Tulipov playing for them next season. In many ways, Ryan Murray or Filip Forsberg are the best two options for the Oilers at the draft. - Maxbone
Murray is THE player in the upcoming draft that your Oilers need. If I were the Oilers I'd rather have Murray than Nail. |

I have no doubt Yakupov is going to be a 40 goal scorer in the NHL and he'll make any team he's on much better.
Oilers stink defensively and are worse in goal. This team goes no where until those two areas are fixed. Yakupov would be more of the same. Drafting Murphy, or even someone like the blooming Griffin Reinhart, represents an attempt by management to directly fix the Oilers roster, and I support that. |

Dallas trading Benn would be like the Oilers trading Hall, just plain stupid. Let's just hope PRV has a fire under his ass next year and plays how he should for his size and skill set. If he can develop into an effective top 6 guy that would solve one of our problems. As for Benn making us a playoff team I'm not convinced. The D still needs some work. |

Sorry to have to say this but Tyler Myers is NOT worth a 1st overall pick!! Ok maybe a flip pick and Myers but Myers straight up for a 1st overall NOT even close. Miller yeah maybe but even then I would do it as a flip of picks and Miller! The Oilers (as you already know) will pick BPA and if it is the 1st overall they will be taking Yakupov if 2nd they will take Grigorenko if they get 3rd it will be Murray and later on would be Forsberg! I am pretty sure that will be the top 4 draft order as well!! - undisputed_8821
You overrate prospects a whole lot. I would definitely trade a first overall for Myers. Myers is a 22 year old, 6'8'' defenseman who has already proven himself as a top pairing guy at the NHL level. Yakupov, while talented, is 18 and has never proven a thing. |

I think you mean Murray; either way, I agree that the Oilers need is on the blue line, but you have to draft the best player available. If by some chance the Oilers got the first pick and didn't trade it, they'd have to pick Yakupov and worry about D and goaltending another time. If you could somehow line up Hall, RNH, Yakupov, and Eberle, you can worry about defense through free agency, etc. |

It's clear we need a big, bruising type of forward with top 6 potential. Is Hamilton/Pitlick going to be that guy? probably not. I think we should look towards D help with our first rounder and opt for a big winger with our 2nd. |

Agreed.
Other teams may prefer to draft differently. If EDM does get number 1 pick, and don't care for Nail, then it's absolutely wise to trade it to a team that wishes to draft Nail, as long as EDM does not fall too low in the draft and they get the player they wish to draft.
After being at least night's game, it almost seemed like every position had holes. An off day for the team. |

who cares what fan he is.. i agree with him. myers would be a great addition on the backend for the oilers everything thing the oilers need. as a first overall pick would not get weber out of nashville maybe on the last year of his contract... but everyone has an opinion. |

You gotta wonder if Burke knows what he's doing. First he gives Blake Wilson a 2-yr contract extension, only to fire Bob Wilson a couple weeks later...sheesh!!

I don't even know where to begin with this. You know how many players are not drafted first and end up being better than a lot of players drafted before them? That's like saying Datsyuk isn't worth a first, Myers is a stud and more than worth only a first, if anything a first isn't enough. Don't worry though no one blames you for knowing nothing about hockey, you are only like what? 12 years old? |

Tambi will not fire Renney because it would make Tambi look bad having 4 coaches in 5 years, and we all know Tambi can not look bad no matter what the situation. - shvmr

shift posts much?
the discussion was about 1st for Myers...now you are linking stuff pertaining to Yakupov?
No one doubts Yakupov's skill...but Edm is not going to get to draft Yakopov. CBJ will, no doubt about it.
I would swap picks, plus the 2nd round pick, plus Peckham AND the right to Barker for Myers. They need more and I am still open for discussion.

Griffan Rhienhart who was rated mid teens at the begininng of the year now is up to same range as Murray. I would take Rhienhart who is a very mobile 6'4" and patterns his game after two players, His dad,Paul and Shea Weber. |

A. I would love to have Yakapov but yes clearly he doesnt solve the small foreward or bad D problem.
b. One of the centers could be used to solve the small foreward problem if we draft second.(Something like 3 scoring lines with the big center playing a wing on first, maybe some one like lander and paairvi on second with gags and hemsky horc and Thor on third or something) then there is also 4 centers in your top 6.
C. If they draft murray he deffintly helps and im thinking this is what management does this year regardless of where they draft because I heard that some one interviewed Tambi and he said something along the lines of aspect two legit D for our roster next year. Basicly sounded to me like hes drafting one and morgaging Oklahoma barons crop for a 2nd. |
