I wonder if they would bring up somebody else instead of Despres so they arent in the same situation as last year with guys like Tangradi and Johnson. If Letang is out until the playoffs and Despres is called up, you risk not letting Despres play in the AHL playoffs and sitting in the press box stuck on the NHL roster. Not sure how it affects waivers too, but isnt that how Johnson got exposed to waivers?

For those of us in the 412/724 area codes.

I could really be missing something, but I'm seeing the warmest day of 2012 so far NEXT Thursday - March 8

Wasn't it just like 65 yesterday?? Maybe we will hit 70?

- ryman1566

Maybe he has inside info that the temperature will hit 87 and a certain somebody will rise from winter hibernation......

He has been a terrific pickup. What more can you get for that cap hit?
- Gunner Staal

yeah definitely. aside from this recent injury, he has been healthy, which was supposedly his biggest knock. like i said, his refusal to shoot at times is extremely frustrating, but i dont think his contributions to the powerplay should be overlooked. just his ability to bring the puck up enables malkin to focus more on just finding at area to shoot from. the notion of no sully or tanger in the back is a rough one

My obsession with monster Muskie and Pike has caused me to forsake all other types of fishing. Last year I thought I had a decent pike on the line and when it got close and I saw it was a 30"+ Walleye I was genuinely disappointed.

This won't be a factor. Despres was on the WBS Roster by declaration day, or whatever they call it. That day was earlier this week. He's eligible for the post season for WBS even if he is recalled in the interim to play in Pitt. Tangradi couldn't be placed on the WBS roster last year because he was still on IR on declaration day due to the injury he sustained in the infamous Islander's game.

and until headshots are banned, these frustrating plays/dicussions will keep happening.

I hate Kerry Fraiser btw.

So if Nystrom were to get suspended how many games would Staal get? Say Nystrom got 5 games. You would have to give Staal 10 to 15. Is that what you want? Look at both hits. Tell me which is worse. Coburn could have been killed. No exageration.

I had 2 Muskies follow right up to the boat last year that were easily 45"+. You see something like that and it makes you think 2x about going in the water. To quote a famous movie "We're gonna need a bigger boat"

sick of hearing about this and its one day...

all i know is if it was someone on someone elses team got hit like letang they would be in an uproar... so that being said... im going to sit back and wait for it to happen.. and when it does im going to copy and paste their response on letang in their blog and see them back track...

everyone hates on the pens and when they get hurt, its always their fault.....

i know this has been said yesterday and today but if it was cooke people would be calling for his head... but bc it was against a pen its okay...

players need to be responsible when hitting... right now they arent and until someone is paralyzed or dies... it will continue... its on the players to police themselves...

on that note im done... im going golfing again bc its 75 out...

ill be back later to read all the crying about my post

the sheer mass of some of these things is insane. to haul in something that is like over 5 feet long and has a body with like the circumference of a basketball is mind blowing. haha i guess its for the best though. the only boat fishing i get to do is from my kayak. hooking a big enough catfish has pulled me in the direction it wanted to go for a little

The amazing part is how long they fight and when they come flying out of the water to destroy a lure. You can easily spend 20 minutes just trying to get it close to the boat. Highly recommend making an excursion if you have the finances to do so. We go to Lunge Lodge in Ontario. Its owned by a guy from Ohio but it is mostly Pittsburgh people that frequent the place. Think it was $900ish/per person/week. That includes boat, fuel, lodging, food.

haha sounds awesome but that is way out of the price range at the moment. being in college the excursion is just having the gas money to drive an hour or so out of the city. id absolutely love to take a trip like that sometime though. the scenery alone seems worth it

Its beautiful up there. Nobody around for miles, nothing but pristine wilderness. There are times we are fishing and black bears are right down at the water's edge. Its about a 10-12 hr drive out of Pitt, not so sure from Philly.

Not a shock... The Steelers have always been good about letting guys go at the right time. Occasionally it's a year early, but it's hard to remember them holding onto a guy a year too long.

Penguins Sign Forward Adam Payerl to a Three-Year Entry-Level Contract
Thursday, 03.01.2012 / 2:25 PM / News

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Adam Payerl to a three-year entry-level contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

The deal begins with the 2012-13 season and runs through the 2014-15 campaign.

Payerl, 20, is currently in his third season with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In 57 regular-season contests this year, Payerl has established career highs with 20 goals and 44 points – both of which rank third on the Bulls – and 102 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-3, 216-pound Payerl, who will turn 21 on Sunday, played some of his best hockey of the season in February, tallying seven goals, four assists and 11 points in 12 games, including a three-game point streak (2G-2A) to finish the month.

A native of Kitchener, Ontario, Payerl has split his five OHL seasons between Belleville and the Barrie Colts. In 302 career regular-season contests, Payerl has notched 58 goals, 82 assists, 140 points and 299 penalty minutes. He’s added one assist in 10 career postseason contests. Prior to this season, Payerl’s best year came in 2009-10 with Belleville when he had 17 goals and 43 points in 67 games with the Bulls.
http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=619994

edit - according to hockeyfights.com, he leads Bellevue in fights. Not bad for a 20 goal scorer.
