Interesting stat here IMO:
Mike Schopp @Schopptalk Close
I think this Rangers stat -- a TOTAL of 4man-games lost to injury among their top 9forwards -- is yet another reason to bet against - Gunner Staal
That is an incredible stat... At some point they are probably going to have the injury bug up front you'd think.
I already have Nystrom/Letang fatigue... I could really care less if Nystrom is suspended, only if Letang is ok |

haha well if no one else is going to comment on anything hockey related that isnt this issue, i will follow the lead. (not that tanger isnt important, i just cant constantly talk about head injuries) but anyway, that stat is phenomenal, especially considering they have gaborik. however, i dont view it is necessarily condemning their playoff hopes |

Interesting... so Kerry Fraser agrees with you...
I still don't see it that way, despite his rationale. But clearly there are 2 points of view on this one. - jtommyt
and until headshots are banned, these frustrating plays/dicussions will keep happening.
I hate Kerry Fraiser btw. |

And still in first place and have the least goals against. Imagine if they had a PP? One point behind Vancouver for most points with three games in hand. - DONMURDOCH14
Just noting those other stats. Still, when you've only lost 4 man games among your top 9 all year, you better not anywhere but first--or too far out of it.
You can get away with a terrible PP in the regular season, but it won't get you out of the first round when the real season begins. Ask the Caps how much success you have in the play offs as a 1 seed while going 1 or 2 for 4 on the PP. Ask the Pens what 1-35 will get you over the course of 7 games. |

The Hatcher hit was nothing like this one. Letang stretches out to push the puck up the boards leaving himself vulnerable. You are allowed to deliver a hit in the NHL right? - FrankDrebbin
Yes, but can't target head. |

Everything that needs to be said about the Letang thing has been said. If outsiders want to come in and discuss it, that is fine, this is the forum for it, but I have said my 2 cents on it and look forward to different topics. |

Looks like we have one more week after this one, and there is a consolation bracket. (Which I plan on winning! ) |

Nope. I probably won't do any prep for any of it until Sunday or Monday. Don't know what the matchups will be yet. The only thing I have done so far is look into Phoenix a little bit. Even signed up for a few Twitter feeds that are Coyotes related! |

Could you imagine if Paul Martin would have gotten the goal instead of it being tipped in, AND Sullivan being injured on Leap Day, it would have went down in history. |

Since I agree with Fraser and Milburry, I am pretty sure that a black hole just opened somewhere close by and I am about to be sucked into it.
The bigger issue is, what happens on the power play if both Letang and Sullivan miss time?
They could throw Gino back there with Niskanen/Martin have Staal on a wing...
Or do you think they will call up Despres to play the point with Niskanen/Martin and keep Gino on the wing?
I guess they could go with Martin and Niskanen back there...but neither of them seems to move the puck that well...at least not like Letang and Sully.
I guess we'll know something more before Saturday. |

I play you for the final weekly matchup, which will ultimately determine my seed. Somehow the Vrbata trade we did will come back to bite me in the @ss. Maybe Gunner can incorporate the irony into his Phoenix write up. |

I could really be missing something, but I'm seeing the warmest day of 2012 so far NEXT Thursday - March 8
Wasn't it just like 65 yesterday?? Maybe we will hit 70?

ah yeah. we really did jinx ourselves by hanging our hats on the notion of being healthy... i cant believe he lasted this long. while he hasnt exactly been a stud, anyone who says he has been a total waste is fooling themselves. at the very least, he has been a big help in bring the puck up and distributing on the powerplay, even if he refuses to shoot haha |

I wonder if they would bring up somebody else instead of Despres so they arent in the same situation as last year with guys like Tangradi and Johnson. If Letang is out until the playoffs and Despres is called up, you risk not letting Despres play in the AHL playoffs and sitting in the press box stuck on the NHL roster. Not sure how it affects waivers too, but isnt that how Johnson got exposed to waivers? |
