He'll get a shot in Buffalo...he'll go back there as an assistant and take over when Ruff steps down or gets fired.
- number_23

Hopefully he gets another chance somewhere.

It's one thing for the habs to be the platform for up and coming French coaches to hone their craft but it is sad that they have to also be the platform where they run over the career of anglos before it even starts.

I agree.

It's not like he came out of nowhere. He put in his time at the AHL as head and assistant coach, put in his time in the NHL as assistant and I think anyone in the know would recognize the situation he's been put in here.

Even though it was a tough spot...it's still an underwhelming coaching performance.

meh.... guy takes a team over halfway through the season, tough to do in any circumstance but probably even tougher if you've been the assistant.

doesn't even get to pick his own staff and one of his assistant coaches has never set foot behind a bench.

gets the rug pulled out from under his feet by the owner the day after he's appointed and kicked in the teeth by his GM a week later.

has to deal with what is probably the most bizarre general manager in the league, has a lineup full of slackers and underachievers...

really, what's any coach to do... if Martin stays they have what? 2 more wins?

problem in Montreal all along wasn't the coaching.

Would Wilson be considered the best unemployed coach now?

seriously if they don't clean house at the end of the season (if Gainey, Gauthier are still there) I might apply to be fan of another team.

As for Cunneyworth, they have put him in a difficult situation...first job in the NHL and that may be his first and only shot...pretty unfair.

- stinger67

Unfair ?

You know what's unfair ? Him giving PLek 5th line players for wingers.

Him giving way too much ice time to Gomer.

That's just the start. He's horrible.. plain and simple.

The PP and Martin Hockey = the two velvet curtains shrouding the disaster that is this team.

The only problem I see going forward is the people that think all they need to fix the team is that number 1 PP and Martin Hockey.

He also benched Gomez,

And who else is he going to give Plek as wingers. You "can't" break up Cole and Max becuase they have "Chemistry", and beyond that all the team has is 5th line wingers.
