Ok, everyone's first car? Mine, 1978 Camaro Z28. White with black pin stripes. Smoked glass T-tops.

1988 Ford Ranger, stick shift. Never drove a stick before. Dad taught me the first day I got it.

Letang was bent so low which I think contributed to Letang getting hit up high like that. and I still couldn't tell if his head was hit.
- nastyflyergirl

I don't think Letang got hit in the head. At least the one camera view he got crushed in the chest and shoulder.
I thought JR was going to punch Milbury when he started putting his hand on JR.

Still in the market for mine. Kind of sick of car shopping at this point.

The Flyers have chosen me to write the articles for Mark Howe's jersey retirement game that will run next week for their official site. Here's what I have planned:

1) A main article previewing the night, and the way Howe now has achieved just about every possible post-career individual honor: Hockey Hall of Fame, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, Flyers Hall of Fame, NHL jersey retirement.

2) A side article looking at Howe's top five moments in Philadelphia and a collection of tributes from former teammates.

3) Apart from the articles, there will be related links posted to the lengthy two-part Heroes of the Past retrospective and Spectrum Memories articles I did for the Flyers' site a few years ago, as well as links to other Howe-related articles that have run on the Flyers' site.

4) There should also be a video highlights package put together by the Flyers, which will be linkable from the main article.

I am really psyched to be doing this. Howe's jersey retirement is something I've been waiting a long time to see, and be even a small part of chronicling it is a thrill for me. I think everyone here knows what Howe's career meant to me -- he was my all-time favorite player.

My first car (when I was 17) was a 1987 Chevy Nova. Ugliest little thing imaginable but it never gave me a single problem. I would certainly like to have those car payments and $12 tank fill-ups back again.

Like you, Deasr1, my wife (being a spoiled brat ) also had a Camaro as her first car when she was 16. No, I'm not envious.. not one bit .

Little side story. The guy who sold me my first car was the late, former NFL great Jim Katcavage, who was working as a car salesman after the Eagles let him go from their scouting department in the mid-1980s. He was an incredibly nice man with huge mangled hands and a permanent limp from his many football injuries. While we were signing the car paperwork, he let me try on his NFL Championship ring from his days with the Giants.

They're notoriously slow out of the gate. Been a point of contention for me for a long time, but I have no idea why they come out flat...puzzling.

You got me Bill! Actually I bought it when I was 15. I worked for my step dad at 11. All my money went into the bank. I bought it for 3500. Then for two years I went to my uncle's house every week end to work on it and put another 10000 into it

Similar story for me except it was my fault. '76 Ford Maverick. Bicentennial red/white/blue edition. Three weeks in. Jumped a green light while drag racing a friend and got nailed just in front of the drivers door by a car running a yellow. The impact caused me to drive right over a light standard on the corner of the intersection and put a big V in the hood. Total write off. Luckily I had just rolled down my window to talk to my friend before that. Two friends in the car too. very fortunate nobody was hurt in either car. The peeps in the other car were high. I could smell it, but the cop didn't want to bother with it.

Congratulations, Bill. Very happy for you. I wrote the gentlemen on the HHOF board when you posted their names a few years back. Hopefully, Mr. Fred Shero will be posthumously honored before long.

My wife and I just watched the induction ceremony again from our DVR the other night. I can only imagine how you feel upon being selected to write the articles. It would be the way I would feel if I were selected to write one about Dave Poulin.

This thing was a monster!

It was brown and full of rust. 2 doors and drove like a cloud, that means you never felt a bump it was smooooth!

The ford LTD was one of the largest car's ever made.

1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Still my favorite. It was the first year GM slimmed down the body, but my parents wanted the V8 in it still. Took off light a jet.
