kassian's no goon. he's probably somewhere between ben eager and lucic/ott/hartnell. obviously the nucks are hoping closer to the latter.
- OrangeBlack27

they got him to add toughness, but they gave up too much
just my opinion

I think, in the grand scheme of things, Yandle coming here would result in the following, by about December of his first season:

YANDLE SUCKS!

Gentlemen, please continue.

- Flyskippy

Hes not available anyways. All I was stating is I think his game defensively is underrated. Whether he is on the PK or not he is a very good defenseman.

Your probably right, Yandle Sucks is about right.

Isles have been a handful every time they played the Flyers this year.

Grabner must be in double digits for the number of breakaways he has had on them.

I'm sure he's a gem defensively, but the defensive-minded Dave Tippett is too stubborn to use one of his better defensive players on the PK.

I suppose I will never get why this is acceptable language, unless the H stands for Hallelujah?

What if they don't beat them?

FWIW, I think the Flyers will win tonight. Too many vets have spoken about slow starts. They're back home and there's no impending trades or rumors to distract them. Time to play 60 minutes of hockey. I don't want perfect hockey, but I want a full effort.

sure, but he's a former first rounder (13th in 09) like hodgson (10th in 08), so it's not like he's all toughness and nothing else. plus, we all know the typical development tracks of young power forwards.

The Islanders may not have the talent, but they have the effort or "the compete" that they bring most every night. If the Flyers brought the same, they would win on talent. They cannot win on talent alone.

It stands for Hockey....just like you said. It would be nice to see a full 60 minute effort with all aspects of the team playing well

Yandle averages the most minutes on his team as a defenseman. If they use him on the PK also he would be worn out by now. If you have players who can do a nice job and free him up some why wouldnt you?

How many minutes you want him to play a game? Hes that bad to log that many minutes though? Leads all defenseman on his team but the coach doesnt trust him?

Plenty of two-way defensemen in the league that log minutes in all situations. If you play 2:00/game on the PK, you cut out about 3 ES shifts. Still have the same # of minutes per game.

So if you play the PK and average 18 mins a night it makes you a better defensive player than someone who averages more minutes but isnt used on the PK bc he plays alot of 5 on 5 and PP? If Yandle played PK minutes also he would be averaging 28 mins a game.

Assuredly. Cap Space is the only name to appear consistently on Lord Stanley's Cup since 2006.

It means you're likely a better defensive player, yes.

If you're a good defensive player, you play on the PK and don't lead your team in offensive zone starts.

Okay. Got it. Yandle is only an offensive defenseman. So I guess anyone who plays on the PK is better defensively then him according to that theory.

So Carle is 6th on the Flyers so he cant play defense?

Behind Timonen, Mez, Couburn, Kubina, Grossman when it comes to penalty kill minutes.
