Valid. I know you are not just saying that as a Penguin fan either.

Malkin, Lundqvist, or Stamkos would be my top 3

- JVince117

I know that being a Penguins fan makes me susceptible to being bias when speaking about a player on the team, but I do try my best to be objective with it.

I can't remember who asked back in September on here, but they asked me about Malkin and his fantasy hockey value. I told the person to take him if he was available regardless of what draft pick it was. Malkin put the work in this summer and was super motivated. He is back to his 2009 Conn Smythe beast mode. It is amazing to watch on a nightly basis, I am lucky.

The Buffalo game was one of the few games where he did not find time and space, and even then he found a full fledged breakaway.
- Gunner Staal

Does Gaustad deserve the majority of the credit for that game?
If so, Nashville is going to be VERY happy with the trade they made come playoff time.
Kesler, meet Goose, if the Preds get that far.

At least DiPietro's is *only* for 4.5m, still , but at least it can be worked around.

Ehrhoff's contract is structured so that he can eventually be dumped.

But if Ovechkin is showing these kinds of jaded/carefree problems at the age of 26, I pity the fool who is paying $10m for the 35 year old version.

It is Malkin's recovery this season from a torn ACL by Myers last year that really makes me look past Galchenyuk's injury and hope he can come back strong as well.

He certainly plays a role in that. One of the Penguins beat writers said that Malkin would be the happiest that Gaustad was shipped out. Said he gave him fits.

Malkin will be happy that Gaustad is out of East. Drives him nuts.

Advancements in the medical field have changed that injury from a career ender, to a bump in the road, depending on how much work the athlete wants to put into their rehab.

Has anyone heard about any disciplinary action for anyone regarding last night's altercation at the end? Usually, the NHL's front office doesn't take too kindly to that sort of chicanery and subterfuge in the last minute of a game.

No instigators were issued. I believe that is the main thing they look at.

I really don't think it was that bad. That kind of stuff is what makes hockey so emotional and so interesting. All the battles were toe to toe, face to face. Not some blind side cheap hit sort of thing.

I'm disappointed we don't see the Ducks more often after that entertaining finish.

Funny thing is this was a rare year where you actually played them twice. First time obviously eons ago and not even on this continent.

I agree in principle. It's just that I've seen less be subject to discipline.

There are no such things as punishable actions when they incur against the Sabres.

Considering how awful the SE division is, to the point where giving one of those teams 3rd place is almost insulting, as well as the fact that the NHLPA declined the alignment proposal, do you guys think there's a chance Nashville makes it into the SE where they belong?

Pens arent catching the Rangers, I kinda want them to slip to 6th.

What the hell does that have to do with realignment?

I bet you do want them to slip to 6th. Whoever is 6th plays FLA, WSH, or WPG.

Just that the Southeast blows haha.

NHL does not need radical realignment like they discussed. They just need to move Nashville to SE and Winnipeg out west.

I just did some quick math to see what everyone is on pace for

#3 - Florida - 94 pts
7 - NJ - 98 pts
8 - Wash - 90
9 - Wpg - 86
10 - Tor - 82
11 - Tam - 83
12 - Buf - 83

That is simply those teams continuing to accrue points at the same rate they have all season. It doesn't account for current trends or streaks.

If you take our 5-3-2 record in our last 10 and project it over the remaining 19 games, we would only make it up to 87 points. The odds are still heavily stacked against us.

- keptupl8

Bored...

I did it again but I used each team's last 10 GP to determine the rate at which they would finish the season. Without guessing the tie breakers, here's how it would play out:

#7 - NJ - 96 pts
T8 - Wpg/Car - 88
T10 - Tam/Buf - 87 pts
12 - Wash - 86
13 - NYI - 78
14 - Habs - 71
15 - Tor - 70

Good thing Toronto is done giving draft picks to Boston.
