10:30 is a rough start time. Might only get through two periods tonight.

I never said I thought we should trade him, just that he needs a protein shake, or 12.

He has already put on like 25 lbs since he got to Buffalo. He had a very hard time making up for that extra weight in the early part of each of the last seasons.

Its funny that you want him to put more weight on but then you are also going to complain that he has lost that great speed he has.

I'm not sure he lost anything, wasn't much of a fight.
- Homer

I accidentally recorded the Ducks feed last night, so maybe they had different camera cuts than MSG, but he took a bunch of punches to the face at one point, and didn't seem able to land/fend off any.

I don't hate Myers or want him gone or anything, I just hope the money next year is worth it. It's a steep price if he's still got as much developing to do as it looks like he does.

Wait til I make that comment before calling me out on it. I just think he needs to put some work into those twiggy arms.

I guess Weber gets props for taking on Getzlaf, but the fight took place because of a cheap shot by Weber.

Getzlaf ran into Miller. That happens all the time to every goalie. Weber is right there and recognizes that he needs to clear Getzlaf out of the crease. But instead of muscling him out he gave him a cross-check, or a butt-end or a punch to the face. If he would have knocked him on his ass instead, there would have been the usual scrum, but probably no fight.

Ok, you think its a steep price, I thought 5.5 is a bargain. Tom Gilbert's cap number is 4M for crying out loud, 5.5 over the next 6-7 years for Myers is a good deal for us, IMO.

Funny thing is that if the game tonight was at normal time I probably would only see 1 period as I have my own game. You have to DVR mostly all the games?

So i take it we are all rooting for Florida to knock off WPG tonight.

No other games would allow a team to tie or leap frog us.

Both teams are in almost identical playoff scenarios, both are emotional and both let their emotions out at the end of the game. Its hockey, neither team was in the wrong. Better to have fights like that, than the staged ones with the useless goons IMO.

I agree. If Myers were to be in the open market any time over the next 5-6 years he would easily get a salary/signing bonus of almost 8-10M

yikes.

Perhaps I'd feel better about it if it were structured differently and he got less in the beginning, but I guess if Darcy can make it work under the cap, then it's all a moot point.

I think 5.5 for a 2012-13 Myers will be steep. For the 2014-19 Myers, that will be a great price.

I couldn't tell. The angle I saw was from behind Getzlaf, so you only see Weber go at him with both hands on the stick. It was hard to tell what part of the stick hit him or if it was his hands.

It wasn't meant to call him out. People are excited by the physical play and the fights at the end of the game. Wouldn't knocking Getzlaf on his ass be just as aggressive as a cheap shot to the face?

It was a good game. Plenty of physicality. No problem with that. I was simply pointing out something that seemed largely overlooked. Relax.

I'm fine with it too. I just bet Broudeu wished his team showed that kinda fight from the get go instead of with 30 secs left.

First couple periods were ho hum on their end but they did outshoot Buffalo 20-4 in the third. Miller just happened to have one of his games where he played to his potential.

Sylvester and Gare's whining was nails on a chalkboard to me.

I gotta agree with this. I absolutely LOVED seeing Weber be such an bumhole to Getzlaf there. Was it a bit cheap? Maybe, but not really un-hockeylike, and it's not like he skated away afterwards. Instead, he called him a wussy and got in his face. That's how you keep the crease clear, and how you stand up for yourself and your team.

Getz backs into Miller and bumps him, Weber catches it out of the corner of his eye and as Getz kinda stumbles towards Weber, Weber gives him a quick shot and wherever it lands, it lands. I have no problem with what either player did, its hockey.

Eh, whatever. He didn't even punch with his hurt wrist. What can you do, he probably didn't want to hurt it. You can see that he was trying to tackle him to the ground.

he might not be the best fighter, but if you are willing to use your face as a punching bag you earn respect.
