No, lol. It's just annoying. I'm not a Sens fan but I'm happy they're winning this year. Leafs fans are just mad because ya know, they suck. As do the Habs. At least Hab fans realize they suck. We suffered through YEARS of horrible management, ownership, and coaching. That's all over. How many seats were available in the Miami arena for you Canadians? None. Because we were winning. And when we start doing so again, you can listen to the game in your Toyota Camry's while driving 40 MPH... not KPH... IT'S FREAKIN MPH... on the highway.

Uh, the same game where the Leafs outshot the Panthers 31-23 and had possession of the puck for long stretches of each period are you blind or did you miss the game?

I think what folks here from Florida are getting at is exactly what I feel: a rather large chip on our shoulder. Elitist hockey fans from the North shrug us off as a soon-to-be-relocated market without fans and with a complete lack of hockey knowledge. To some extent, I think most folks since the last winter olympics would be willing to acknowledge that Canadiens look down their nose at USA hockey and USA hockey fans. How many times have you heard things like-- its all OUR players making ____(insert American based NHL team here) a contender, or move the team to Canada where they will be supported. These are the tip of the ice, but there is really an American chip on the shoulder. Now amplify that a thousand or more times and you have what we feel here.

We have not been competitive in a long time. Most hockey websites rarely or barely acknowledge we exist (hello TSN and THN). I used to go to games all the time in a Whalers jersey at Boston Garden, MSG, or the former Brendan Byrne Arena. It could be ruthless, but mostly, it was actually good natured (believe it or not).

Our barn is full of opponents fans. Thats fine, anything that sells tickets to support the team. But what I think many of you do not know is that many fans of the Leafs and Habs that come to our games carry an offensive hockey-snob attitude with them. They look down their noses at the Panther fans and actively attack us in our building- not for the play on the ice- but for their numbers in the audience. At a Montreal game down here, I nearly got in fisticuffs with several Habs fans making fun of my 7 year old son in his Panthers jersey and his enthusiasm for the supposed home team. As de facto emissaries for the city of Montreal, province of Quebec, and country of Canada, they did you no favors.

Many, many of my friends here are in fact Canadien (there are so many of them here, its not a big deal to anyone) and they go to most games, and they are always respectful but fun and good natured. We, and they, often end up engaged in lengthy conversations with folks around them who began the engagement with good natured ribbing, about the game and memories of the game they share. But something about folks coming in just for the game, well there are more arrests at the Bank Atlantic when the Leafs are here than for any other game.

Many of you are quite a distance away, and you hear all kinds of things about this market and its fans. Next time, try starting from the position of asking yourself if you have a bias, and have you seen hockey snobbery aimed towards this market. The answer to number one I do not know for you, but for number two, if its "no" you've got your head in the sand.

Oh my. Did you see the article on TSN? The Leafs PLAYERS were embarrassed by the way they played. From Siegel's article: "Chasing all night, the Leafs came up with another inconsistent effort." They offered no excuses and Wilson said Reimer would just have to work through his issues as to why he gave up 5 goals on 23 shots.

But please, I did not mean to interrupt you, continue writing about how much they outplayed the Panthers and how many shots they took (by the way, the Panthers have routinely outshot their opposition by a hefty margin in most of our losses, but I digress) and how much they possessed the puck, because I know (despite living in Miami) that the game is all about puck possession right now, but really, don't let US know, those Leafs really need you to tell THEM, they sounded pretty down on themselves in the article...

What bothers me the most is, most of the fans who cheer for the Habs or Leafs or whoever.. wear Panthers jerseys the rest of the year. You guys aren't fooling anyone. It's all about being bandwagon fans up there. Just ignore them. The Oilers were the last relevant franchise in Canada. And they aren't going to be relevant again for a looooong time. Vancouver is the only hope you guys have. This season, yet again, a team in the USA will raise the cup. Remember that most of the players who play in the NHL play on teams in America.

But people in Canada walk around with this false sense of ownership when it comes to hockey. none of you were alive when the game was created, and there are many more markets in the USA now obviously. Just enjoy the game. If the only thing you can get on us about is having poor attendance... which has gotten much better this season... sing a new song. 1951 Leafs fans.

Apart from that disgusting opening 3 minutes, the Leafs outplayed the Panthers by a reasonable margin.

"Subjectively, it is quite rewarding to beat Toronto in their own building. When Toronto, or any other Canadian team, visits South Florida this time of year the obnoxious meter goes off the charts regarding visiting fans. It is as if they feel they deserve a win because they are from Canada. Considering Ottawa is the only Canadian team that gives the Panthers fits, it surely looks like misguided arrogance. Certainly the Panthers have been so bad over the last ten years many fans from Canada took games in Sunrise for granted. Those days are over."

You're the only one that sounds obnoxious, and as a Panthers fan you need to relax Fans are fans, of course they think their team deserves to win, that's the whole point of cheering for your team. You seem to think the Panthers can roll with the big boys because they can beat pathetic Canadian teams like the Leafs

I'll give credit where it's due: Good post Gudbranson2012!

There are often a lot of empty seats in the lower bowl at home for the Leafs. In the "careful what you boast of" category, the Leafs are so popular in Southern Ontario that many corporations buy up season tickets in the lower bowl at enormous prices but often do not attend games when the Leafs are on losing skids. Its a shame, seeing all those empty seats when a lot of "real" Leafs fans would give their eye teeth for those seats on any night.

You are right, they are "Panther fans" all other games of the season.

I don't mean to kick off a "Canada vs. USA" topic though. I have NEVER had a problem when we play Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton, or Vancouver, with their fans at our barn, in fact I go to the Peg games with my best friend who is from the Peg. I simply mean to point out to those folks coming in here and making comments about our "attendance issues" what the truth of the matter is. And the truth is hugely visible especially during World Juniors that USA hockey fans have a chip on their shoulder and that many Canadien hockey fans do not like hockey south of the border and that those feelings are amped up here where all we get are snide comments from too many Habs and Leafs fans that we know nothing about hockey, do not deserve hockey in our market etc.

Its a game.

Its a league.

We all need each other.

Panthers look forward to Canadian visits, it's the only time they come close to a sell out
- Old Pappy

Not sure how much hockey you watch, but florida is actually doing well in the fans column with the amount of games they're winnings. Who would of guessed that a winning team would sell out ... btw, people still paying to watch your leafs lose?
