I don't have to apologize for punching you in the face if I've considered how that would effect my reputation before doing so.

Even if I really wanted to, and even if I felt some people would pat me on the back for doing so, and I'd have to apologize to the others just to get my way, I'd still have to consider my reputation above all of that.

Alright...it's a stretch of an analogy, but those before Gauthier considered that their decisions not only effected their own legacies, but that of the franchise.

It's just business, but it's not the way business has ever been done here.

And there's a reason the Habs are the Habs, and not the Leafs.

Really? Because with the exception of one regular season miracle and a post season miracle, id say that is exactly what the habs have become, the new leafs. Gone is the class and winning, and it has been replaced by mediocrity, horrible managements, and an owner only concerned with money and running his team like a business. How does this differ from being just like the leafs again? It doesn't.

gotta agrEE with shiner on this one, no halak meant the habs out in the first round and we would have been talking about how mediocre this team is instead of everyone calling them a "contender"

I agree but Molson doesn't seem to be showing any type of urgency or disagreement from the farce that our management is. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Letting Emotion and what people think of you get in the way of your decisions is not good business.

Times have changed and you can't run a team like it is the 70's anymore, the legacy of the habs doesn't mean anything to players now adays, and it's time the media and managment realize that it is never going ot be the way it used to be, when players bleed for the crest on their chest.

Hockey is business now, and mixing it with emotion and what other people think of your legacy will not work.

I am not so sure that the damage hasnt already been done, PG antics, especially dealing with the players in the midst of trades has been as unclassy and despicable as ive ever seen in hockey. Very low class move, and i believe that PG and Gainey have done more damage to this organization then Rejean Houle did or anyone after him. Houle was forced to trade Roy. Could have gotten more but didnt.

What do you believe the players who are UFA are thinking when they read Spacek and Gill's comments on how they were treated while being traded, and Cammy? Yet wont send Gomez to Hamilton due to fear of backlash? Gomez should have been sent down this summer a la Redden. Montreal has a hard enough time getting FA's now, and due to all this, im sure that it isnt going to get any better.

I really hope the new coach or GM is not a part of the old Habs club.

Bob Gainey's biggest issue as GM, he was stuck in the 70's and the game had left him and the others like him far behind.

Me too, unless its Robinson, and he has said many times he has no interest at all in coaching the habs. None whatsoever.

The time is to run the team like the other 28 teams, well minus the yotes and BJ's of the world.

What he should be doing is a proper GM and coach search and not limiting himself to a language barrier, to which in this day and age, there should be none. RDS doesnt have a translator? I suggest google.

I don't think he ever wants to head coach again, but I bet he would be an assistant in MTL.
