Hold the phone there Big Guy. There is a strong case to be made for the top 3 rookies right now.

Landeskog has that high +/-, and is a leader in rookie ppp and gwg.

Henrique is already strong in the faceoffs, leading in support and a leader in gwg.

Nugent has played alot less games and has the best p%, and is a leader in ppp.

It is not yet quite clear who is winning the Calder this year.

Henrique plays with Kovi and Parise, so if he is going to win by points alone then he is really going to have to blow the other 2 out of the water. He is a great players but I dont think he is better than LAndo or RNH. RNH has a shot as he just puts up stupid high offensive numbers but Lando is a MUCH better all around player. The thing is recently Lando has been on FIRE and is one of the main reason the avs are still in the playoff hunt. If the calder focuses more on scoring I think it should go to RNH but if it focuses on the best all around rookie, then its Lando. ALso dont forget lando also leads all rookies in hits and take aways as well.

Don't forget Lando has 20 more games than RNH. Have to think if RNH finishes with at least the same amount of points he gets it for having the far better PPG.

No Suter actually told his GM that if he was able to bring in some big time players at the trade deadline and prove that they are serious about winning a cup, then he would stay. The question is if they brought in enough star power, I dont think so

I don't know that star power is going to be the reason Suter stays or goes. It will be the results come May or June.

Henrique had 41 points in 54 games. He leads NJ in +/- with +9. He is great defensively and plays on the top pk unit. Not sure how Lando could be having a better rookie year. RNH would probably win if he wasn't injured but he missed a lot of time. Henrique has been arguably the best all around rookie.

like I said, RNH can put up crazy amounts of points, but Lando plays well 200 feet of the ice. RNH could turn into a 100 point player, but he is 10 years away from Lando defensively. Lando also spends a good deal of time on the PK which lowers his scoring opportunities. The thing to really note is that Lando just keeps getting better and better as the season goes along

You are from the east so let me say that Lando is a much better all around rookie than Henrique, however they are similar players and both are going to be absolute studs.

But henrique plays with 2 of the top 5 best players in the east on a nightly basis in Kovi and Parise! He better have 41 points in 54 games. If henrique was a dominant face off man then you could give him a shot against lando but he is under 50%.

Dont get me wrong all 3 of these guys are INSANE players, but I dont see henrique winning the calder.

Also lando also plays on the top pk, and while Henrique is a +9, the devils as a team are +2 so the stat isnt that impressive. Landeskog is a +20 on a team that is -5. Thats (frank)ing nuts! Lando also has more hits and take aways than henrique and doesn't get to play with 2 superstars as line mates.

Sort of like Landeskog is well behind the offensive IQ that Nuge has...and Nuge is not bad defensively.

Offense is what wins the major hardware. Is the winner of the hart usually the guy with the best +/-...not really, but that guy might win the Selke and be a main player on his team...is the calder awarded to the best defensive rookie? Not so much.

I think those 3 are the ones in the running...Landeskog's +/- can be a deciding factor if he keeps his offense up...Nuge's pure offense talent will lead him to keep teh scoring race close at teh very least, I think he may start to run away with it again...Henrique will keep pace scoring wise and his 49.2% f/o% is nothing to look down on, compare him with every other rookie, he is good and takes WAY more draws.

LMAO I think you have to actually to have a high hockey IQ to comment on whether Lando does or not. I know thats an area that all the pro hockey scouts really gave kudos to RNH along with his vision but, "Sort of like Landeskog is well behind the offensive IQ that Nuge has" is a total BS statement. And there is a HUGE difference between being decent at defense and GREAT at defense.
Try better next time.

Henrique is an AMAZING player, there is no arguing that, but he wont win the calder unless he really steps it up the next few games.

Lando plays PP judgeing by his 4 pp points...

Henrique plays PK by seeing his 4 SH points...

Nuge has played 22 and 12 games less than those two, and plays about 1 minute less per game, yet is only 4 points off the lead. Nuge also plays less shifts and has taken less shots...yet has the best ppg% (0.88) and best shooting % (16.3).

Lando is really only in the conversation becasue he has played so many more games than the other two. If nuge had played as many games and kept to even a 0.8 ppg% he would have been running away with it.

And this is not to slag Lando or Henriq....I would have liked Lando being drafted by the Oil last eyar, unfortunately he was not going to fill a whole in the team.

I see Nuge play and know he has a high offensive IQ...I have seen Lando play and dont see him anywhere near that level.

So lando can be decent at offence (0.63ppg) and really good at D...Nuge is REALLY GOOD at offence (0.88 ppg) and decent at D for a rookie (-3)...

So while you are pumping Lando's tires keep it real and don't try and pump them too full.

I think he is middle of the pack, RNH is better offensively and Lando is better defensively. Plus he plays with (frank)ing Parise and Kovi. Gomez could have 41 points playing with them.

Lmao I am saying that you have no idea what you are talking about and dont have the Ethos to be a credible source on hockey IQ. IDGAF that you think that Nuge has a Higher hockey IQ because you watched some games.

Everything else you have said though is spot on

Pretty much, but you have to take into account how injury prone a player is as well. RNH may still win the calder, its 50-50 between him and gabe.

Lando plays PP and PK. You also shouldn't measure how good someone is by how many points they get on the PK. Dumbass

He is burying his chances tho', that is important...and his 49 f/o% is nothing to dismiss...he has a legitimate chance to win.

Like I said, it is down to those 3.

For sure For sure. I just dont see what he has that the other 2 dont do better. If he played with lesser players then I think that would help as well.
