they made good deals, but didn't make a large enough deal to get Suter to say. Its like when ATL signed antropov in order to try and keep Kovi. We all know how well that worked out - Meeqsb
I don't think Suter or Weber are necessarily basing their decisions on who the team brings in as much as how far they go with the guys that are brought in. If the team goes to the WCF or further that may be enough to show at least one of those guys that they can win with the ownership and management in place. If they can go on a run that gets either suter or weber to commit then it's definitely worth the price paid for gill kostitsyn and gaustad.
No Richard, there isn't anything the Oilers have that the Leafs would trade Aulie for, aside from the ridiculous. Holzer plays the same style and surpassed Aulie on our depth chart and Aulie had a pretty bad year. Sad to see him go, but in Ashton we have a player who has equal potential and size, just in a very different role. And a role we severally lack in. So even if he doesn't amount to much or up to Aulie, it was still a good trade for both teams.

That will be determined after the season is done. I think they made a lot of high risk moves that could end up being just god awful, but at the same time Poille and Trotz know how to get the most out of their type of players
Ben Eager? Really, wait til he breaks your little forwards in half.
I see some serious Oil injuries coming over the next couple years with this guy in the line up.

they have had the best prospects since the early 90s - all mighty oil
Well this time we have a gm who doesn't (frank)en up give them way we won't move his prospects next year we have the clear Calder favorite Huberdeau and then we have markstrom and a long list so if the panthers can win with this team they are going to be a top contender when are rookies come in

That is maybe possible -like after we just scored several goals on your mighty Lou... As Kassian will not be able to catch our fwds... Besides Harti, Petrell etc will all be more than accustomed to the game and will give some size to our size lacking team... We are not too worried about Kassian... Much like we were not too worried earlier of Hodgson challenging Eberle in scoring...

A little early for that don't ya think? Don't get me wrong I think Huberdeau is gonna be a star, but when there's a guy like Yakupov in the draft this year I wouldn't even think about making that statement yet....

Add in previous picks like Tarasenko and Kuznetsov as well. You just don't know at this point. Is there any guarantee that Huderdeau even makes the NHL next year?
If you guys win the cup, AND Kassian plays an important role in it, then it does not matter. - marty11
They won't win the cup though, they still have Luongo in net. Bruins or Rangers will beat them. And Detroit is better than Vancouver, don't tell me the Canucks are better since they beat Detroit last week. Detroit missed their best forward, Datsyuk.

I'd say they have as good a chance as anybody in the west. Don't get me wrong, I would throw up in my mouth if the Canucks won the cup(god, even typing that makes me sick to my stomach), but I think they could make it back to the final.

They could and it is all really in Lou's hands.
The one thing that needs to be said though is the (frank)ing standings this year. There is a chance that CHI/SJ could be 8th. The top seeds might not have an easy go at it this year. They probably still can win the first serious, but they could very well get drained early on.
I guess the same can be said about the East if Washington ends up 8th and Ovechkin all of a sudden has a light bulb go off in his head.

Regardless it should be a good play offs this year, and really that is all I can hope for. At least until the Oil start playing in the post season.
