Agree. Doesnt matter how it went in. My job is to try and stop the puck and I need to continue to get better at it. Now go (frank) off media people.

Agree but he didn't think that quickly and was stuck.

Could you imagine if Pronger was around to shut these media guys up? He knows how to deal with them and without him to put them in their place they are running wild.

Looks like Timonen is either injured, worn down to a nub, or both. Last in ice time last night among d-men. That's something you never see.

Lot of questions with this team right now, and doesn't appear to be many answers.

Seems like every year timonen is breaking down around this time. Need to pursue a true number 1 after the season and keep him rested next season.

Anyone see any accuracy issues with this statement in Greenberg's article?

"It’s going to take more than just the three time zones the Bizarro Flyers flew across this morning to leave their alternative universe behind. They scored five goals twice and got shut out twice on the four-game trip, which is not only just plain weird, but doesn’t really have much to do with anything they now face moving forward."

Um, didn't we score 5 vs Winnipeg and 4 vs Calgary?

It's the matchups. Sharks have been one of the worst teams in the NHL. They Played a tight checking game. I would be more comfortable with a matchup against the wings than the bruins or rangers
- Just5

I understand what you are saying. If the Bruins continue their spiral out of control they might blow the division.

Sharks were playing without Couture last night, integrated two new players into their lineup, and didn't have their coach, and still managed a shutout. Unacceptable.

Where are the Vet's at picking up for the Youth? Where has Briere, Meszaros, Coburn been? What is going on with Jagr and Giroux lately? Where is the JVR we were expecting this season, I know he was hurt, but a week back... and... Why Isn't Bryz playing like a number 1?

I'll tell you what, if things dont change by next week, I bet Lavi gets fired... You cant go from the top of the league, to battling to make the playoffs in 2 months and still keep your job. Sure there were injury problems, but the team is healthy now, and not responding at all..

- RooNosHockey

Relax. They are who we thought they were over the summer. A 5-7 seed Playoff team. Yeah the steps their taking to get there are unusual

Once Pronger got hurt, Timonens minutes gradually increased. Maybe Holmgren waited too long getting help on the blueline.

He had been logging big minutes up till this point. With the new additions on defense it would be wise for the Flyers to scale his minutes back some before the playoffs start.

Same story last year. I think they waited far too long to make a move. I have to believe they were considering making a big splash for a while and eventually decided to patch the defense instead. With they would have done that a month or 2 ago when it was pretty clear Pronger was done.

you're right, that is exactly what they want but silly me......i'd want to be talked about in a positive way. I'd want people to be saying "wow did you read that great article.....wow, what a good hockey mind". like with Bill. I find it sad that Tim thinks its funny that people can't stand him. you dumb ass, they dislike you cause you are a hack

How hard is it to ignore them? I haven't read anything they have written in months, don't follow any of them on twitter, and wouldn't listen to WIP if someone paid me to. Everyone who rants about how bad they are, can simply tune them all out.

The focus should be on why the wheels are falling off this team, not what the media says or thinks about it. Who gives a rats ass what they say.

No need to hit panic mode. Lavi shouldnt get fired. The Flyers are an above average hockey team. They have had injuries all year long. They play alot of rookies and probably are where they should be in the standings.
- stveshdy

Agreed. Better to face adversity now. Learn to deal with it. Maybe take on an "us against the world" mentality, hopefully right the ship and storm through the last couple weeks of the season and into the playoffs. I don't want no stinking 6 seed either. They are capable of better. They should play to their capabilities and let the seedings fall where they may.

I hope he can get healthy and coach eventually. They are missing his grit and attitude in a big way. Seems at least for this year he will be staying away from the team for the most part.

Giroux's play has been very erratic over the past month and a half or so. Jagr's often been getting burned by trying to do too much by himself. Briere and JvR have struggled all year long. I have concerns there, but I'm willing to give Briere the benefit of the doubt and chalk up JvR's struggles to development. I guess I'd say the same for Jake, who at least has been busting his ass and creating fairly consistently...although he hasn;t finished enough
- Jsaquella

He really needs to quit trying to bull through three guys from the other team at the blueline. Jagr knows hockey enough to know that if there are three guys converging on you...someone is open. Dish the biscuit baby!

Yep. Water under the bridge now. The Flyers really needed faceoff help, they got absolutely dismantled at the dot last night. Was a big factor in the outcome of the game. Losing offensive zone faceoffs constantly is getting old.

Timonen is a warrior. They spend all this money on defense so its time to allow others to play more minutes. They have six solid defenseman so it makes sense to spread out the minutes more. Its disappointing with how the Flyers have been playing since the ASB but I kind of expected this with such a young team (and injuries). The Flyers are right about where I thought they would be before the season started. Once the playoffs start none of these stats mean anything. Its all about matchups and playing your best hockey at the right time.

The one negative in making an earlier trade is the probable cost. Had they made a move in December, it's very probable that a guy like Grossman or Kubina would have cost a 1st rounder.

So had they done that, Holmgren would get ripped for overpaying...and they're still having breakdowns despite the new additions. Trades can help weak spots, but the guys that remain still have to pick up their games.

Laviolette will not be fired before the en of the season. I would be shocked. IMO, he's definitely back next year, barring an epic collapse, considering all the change this team has gone through the past year.
