I realize the WIP people can't know all about all sports. I get that. but how about educating yourself a little bit and not be all about the drama. the beat writers have NO excuse. they are paid to cover a specific sport so how about you learn a little about it.
- nastyflyergirl

I only get exposed irregularly to WIP. But all it sounds like when I have heard it is Skip Bayless wannabes that have to either glorify or shred to pieces everything about a sport figure or team.

It drives me crazy to see Carchidi or Seravalli introduced as a hockey expert. They don't know more than most fans.

or as expected with any team chocked full of young guys...

not to mention a team with its captain and premier defender on the shelf

- Crimsoninja

Where are the Vet's at picking up for the Youth? Where has Briere, Meszaros, Coburn been? What is going on with Jagr and Giroux lately? Where is the JVR we were expecting this season, I know he was hurt, but a week back... and... Why Isn't Bryz playing like a number 1?

I'll tell you what, if things dont change by next week, I bet Lavi gets fired... You cant go from the top of the league, to battling to make the playoffs in 2 months and still keep your job. Sure there were injury problems, but the team is healthy now, and not responding at all..

It's really tough to watch this team right now... Ever since the WC, they have been mediocre at best. I'm not even looking forward to getting back to being a dominate team... I would be happy if they played consistantly. I don't know what is going on, but the last 2 months have been dreadful...
- RooNosHockey

Well, dressing 7-9 rookies game in and game out, and relying on them for big minutes and key roles is a huge factor. Injuries have played a role, too. So has simple poor play. It happens. The season is a marathon, not a sprint.

I also loved how the reporters pushed and pushed Bryz on why the first goal went in until he finally said it hit the dman. he didn't want to say anything and really didn't know what to say. I'd like to see him just (frank) with the media the rest of the way ala Pronger
- nastyflyergirl

Yea who was it that said "It deflected of of who?" "Who did it deflect off of?"

Bryz was stuck.. i felt bad for him.

All that game last night did was reaffirm the fact that the flyers don't stand a chance in a series against the rangers or bruins. The flyers do not want to play that way. In particular the group of forwards. I was ok with the process of the game. I think the flyers desPise it
- Just5

In case you haven't noticed the Bruins when not lighting the Flyers up for 6 goals per game, are getting shutout by everyone else. They haven't won consecutive games since January just like the Flyers.

Their fans are trying to use the Horton and Peverley injuries as excuses. But no one wants to hear it. Now Boychuk is out concussed as well. At this moment, the Bruins aren't a spec in the Rags Universe.

No need to hit panic mode. Lavi shouldnt get fired. The Flyers are an above average hockey team. They have had injuries all year long. They play alot of rookies and probably are where they should be in the standings.

Sounds like an excuse, not a reason to me. If your the top scoring team in the league, there is no reason they should be playing this poorly. They need to sacrafice some of thier offense for team defense...

I was just about to post about this. They particularly pressed him for who he thought it deflected off of, a teammate or a Shark. The first time, he just kind of trailed off, "Well, I think... eh..." When they pressed again, I wish he would've pulled a Pronger and said, "Who cares? It was a goal, next question."

Idk if you saw my post on the 1st page, but that is the big problem to me.

The fact that Jagr, Briere, Giroux, JvR, and Czechie have Combined for 24 goals since 12/29/11 is the biggest concern I have.

24 goals TOTAL in 26 games by your top guys is a big deal. Simmonds and Hartnell have 25 combined in that span.

Agree. Doesnt matter how it went in. My job is to try and stop the puck and I need to continue to get better at it. Now go (frank) off media people.

TDL over, full panic mode initiated.

I think you need to lower your expectations. JvR has been back for a week an you're wondering why he isn't playing like he did last year in the playoffs? I think that's asking a bit much so soon.

If you watched the game last night if say bryz did play like a number 1.

The defense was just retooled a few games ago, give them time to get used to their new partners.

I expected Jagr to struggle with the long grinding NHL season at some point.

I also think people are being too hard on Giroux. It's his first year as a first line center and that comes with growing pains.

Call it an excuse or a reason, but the fact is, relying that heavily on that many rookies, for that long a period of time tends to lead to inconsistency and up and down performances.

I agree that adjustments could have been made sooner. They could have added defensive help earlier than they did. Probably would have cost more, because more teams were still in the hunt in December. The coaching staff could have made other adjustments to tighten things up, adopting a more defense first posture. The goalies could have played better. Some of the veteran guys have not met expectation either offensively or defensively.

Fact is, none of that happened. The other fact is, more often than not, rookies who haven't played extensive time in the AHL or other "elite" leagues (KHL or SEL, for example), tend to hit a wall around this point of the season.

It's not an excuse, it's the truth. They need to play better but they are a young team that will struggle at times.

you could see he didn't want to talk. Richards was a douche but I can understand to some degree why he was pissy to the media at times. I do like the Pronger approach.....pure sarcasim with a sprinkle of snideness.

It's the matchups. Sharks have been one of the worst teams in the NHL. They Played a tight checking game. I would be more comfortable with a matchup against the wings than the bruins or rangers

Looks like Timonen is either injured, worn down to a nub, or both. Last in ice time last night among d-men. That's something you never see.

Lot of questions with this team right now, and doesn't appear to be many answers.

Giroux's play has been very erratic over the past month and a half or so. Jagr's often been getting burned by trying to do too much by himself. Briere and JvR have struggled all year long. I have concerns there, but I'm willing to give Briere the benefit of the doubt and chalk up JvR's struggles to development. I guess I'd say the same for Jake, who at least has been busting his ass and creating fairly consistently...although he hasn;t finished enough
