My basic point is no one is forcing you or anyone to read the papers, listen to the radio, talk sports with co-workers etc... If it isn't a pleasurable experience, what's the purpose of partaking in any of it?
- PLindbergh31

that's the point... we'd like to partake in it... and some are frustrated that we cant/shouldnt

One can try, and I know I attempt to, but when folks are fans of these media sources, feel ingratiated to them for giving the "real story", it's a rather Sisyphean task.

And 'Sisyphus' gets a boost on the Google search charts.

I understand, but can't you just tune them out? You don't need their input to understand the game, you don't need the media to educate you on the sport. You know what you are watching.

For me watching the games, and reading Bill's blog, and using the forums as an outlet are enough.

I'm finding it harder to tune them out for whatever reason.

I understand.

I don't read the papers or listen to sports talk radio in Philly.

Honestly, I get the majority of my info on the Flyers from this site (good, bad or indifferent).

I do not proclaim to know all about the sport or the team and never have a problem asking for thoughts on a player, team, coach or style.

Heck, when the Flyers traded for Kubina I asked Jasq for his POV on him.

I have my opinions and I let them be know but that is what sports should be about.

I don't really care about the personal lives of the players and didn't get caught up talking about that garbage.

I simply care about what they do on the ice.

Because no man is an island, man is a social creature. We've discussed this before, and if you don't recall I don't tune in to the radio stations nor follow the twitters. I don't even go to Philly.com nor other similar sources. But to endeavor to avoid social interaction entirely? You may as well suggest we avoid wearing the logo, hide our fandom.

I understand. It's almost like a guilty pleasure. It's like what moronic thing will they say next. I can see you laughing at how pathetic they are, but for them to get you upset and angry it's not worth it.
