If that's the case he should have got more picks at trade deadline and made a few moves.

Burke believes he can win with this group that the scary part!

- duckyjets

Exactly, and he's too stubborn to admit he made another mistake

I would have drafted Eberle. There were knocks on his size (not a "Burke player") but the guy just plain wins hockey games.

woulda been a bust in Toronto anyways...

moving Schenn, Kule, Mac and Grabo for picks was not a good idea. There is no guarantee the picks he gets actually replaces the players if not improves the team down the road.

he moves all those guys now, and is forced to bring up the youth who are succeeding and developing on a winning team with the Marlies...and you want to bring them into a losing environment and set the team back even further?

what new players will want to sign with us then? You think Kessel will want to resign? Nope.

- noename09

What you fail to realize is that this team doesn't have the prospects yet to fill viable roles on the team.

They also do not have players to fill those roles.

Grobo is going to fleece Burke on a deal. All the power is in his hands for negotiating right now.

If Burke doesn't sign him he looks like a fool for not trading him for a 1rst.

There is only one way this turns out and that's in Grabos favor his agent must be licking his chops.

OH ya grabo will rob the leafs....anything over 4.25 for him is ridiculous. But that's Toronto fans like...they overvalue their players and whine at the possibility of trading them.
look at McCabe....he could have walked or been traded before he resigned, but Leaf nation was in an uproar over letting him go....so they overpaid for him....and we all know how that ended.

I still remember Burke telling the media he was going to trade the islanders for the 1rst overall pick to draft Taveras before the drat took place lol................

Snow was like WTF who is this guy.......

Burke likes to hear himself talk repeating the same garbage all the time.

I sure hope he has a plan in the off season b/c most teams around them will be even better next year and look out if Ottawa decides to spend to the cap next year

Parise is a winger, who can also play center.
- noename09

No he can't. He's only a winger. Just like Phil "Center" Kessel

If Dave Tippet can coach the Coyotes to continual 100 pt season surely someone can take the Leafs and get them in the playoffs. Unfortunately Burke is so pigheaded and blinded by his friendship with Wilson he won't do what's right for the franchise.

Ottawa is a good blue print for a rebuild.

Murray has done a good job over there when he realized that he had to rebuild the team.

That's Murray Forte is drafting and rebuilding clubs.

Well I believe they do have the prospects and players to make the needed moves within the next 2 years. Burke has been crafty and wont overpay for guys if he dosnt need to.

With respect to Grabo, its going to be tough...we will have to see, but I feel as though Grabo will take a home town discount because we have given him the chance and he loves the city. Only time will tell, no real discussion here.

Eh? So when their number 1 center Zajac went out they went to him right? Logical move, seeing as he's a center. Oh wait he's on the wing and they called up an AHLer in Henrique along with moving a winger (Who can actually play center) in Elias to the 2nd line center role.

good for them. Pretty sure they were never in the same situation with respect to prospects and roster players that the Leafs were in 3 years ago.

Henrique was playing so well how can you not use him.

Parise just came off knee surgery they eased him in center takes a lot more skating.

He could have easily played center ice but coming off injury and having a call up fill in well why risk injuring the knee again.

Burke has donea great job period!! We all hoped it would happen overnight and it hasn't. All he has to do now is evaluate which prospects can step in and get the job done. If we don't have anyone who can step in then u make moves like Ottawa did with Turris by trading prospects for young nhl calibre players.

He's never played center outside of 14 games in 2005 in the NHL and never will.

We don't have to much of a mess problem is our prospects are all playing right now.

To be in this position right now I can honestly say no one would have dreamed it.

Chevy is going to build thru the draft so im not worried
