Absolutely, you might as well book it now. This recent swoon continues until the playoffs are only a mere mathematical possibility and all of a sudden they win out to climb back into 9th.

Where's he projected to draft? Outside the top 10?
- 1979AD

6th, would likely be top 2-4 but blowing out your knee and missing a year does little to help your ranking.

It doesnt really matter where we finish because Burke will use the pick to draft some American kid that should go in the 3rd round. He will probably trade up to get him too. lol

The question is: who do you think is the "real" Luke Schenn?

The steady, composed, gritty player who has been one of our best defensemen for a majority of the past three seasons (before this year) or the shaky, nervous wreck who has struggled as the team around him collapses?

It's aamazing to me how we only use the most recent evidence available to draw our conclusions.

It's like the past couple months have negated every bit of positive gains every young player on this team has ever made.

They won't be making some miracle run this year unless it starts tonight. They are in the toughest part of there schedule as it is the Following.

Chicago, Montreal, Pittsburgh, Boston, (Back to Back) Philly, Washington (Back to Back) Florida, Tampa.

We suck against Boston, We have sucked against the Habds, Flyers and Caps, Only team we have owned in that schedule is Tampa.

well in that case....

seriously though....i hope people realize how we crucify any coach that ever comes in...did it with Quinn, Maurice...and now Wilson. Eakins will be next.

- Pen15

We've never had a good coach and a good gm at the same time. Quinn traded away all our depth and built a team of old people, but was a very good coach. Nothing needs to be said about JFJ, but always thought Maurice was a good coach. I don't think he got run out of town. The fact he got us even talking about playoffs was a miracle with the team JFJ built. Now we got a good gm again and a poop coach...

Confidence is a strange thing. Like in baseball when even the very best players can go 0 for 23 with 10 strikeouts. Reimer, Kulemin, Grabo, Schenn, Phaneuf are all fighting it right now.

I agree they are not playing with any confidence, and the more they lose the more pressure they will feel. Maybe a change of coach will be a wake up call. If they get blown out again tonight against a struggling Chicago team without Toews you may get your wish by tomorrow.

- Rang

Reimer needs a solid vet behind him that can help him....his best numbers were with Giggy....just saying. This Gus/Reimer thing aint working. You cant have a guy like Gus as your "vet/mentor" for a young goalie when Gus himself is inexperienced. It wasnt healthy to begin with, and surely sucked.

Ok so right now Toronto is in 21st place in the league... If they loose the next 2 games and the teams behind them win the next 2 or 3 they could drop down to 27th overall... Giving the Leafs the 4th overall pick this year...

That's exactly what I'm predicting... the swoon continues until there's no real chance at the playoffs and they all of a sudden start winning every game.

Come on now, that's almost racist dude Kulemin? Franzen? Galchenyuk plays a NA game anyway, hence the 86 points in the OHL last year.

You make some valid points, but I think it was the SJ players that made Wilson look like a good coach, but he still could never win the big prize. 1,400 regular season games coached, 1 finals appearance, 0 cups.
- 1979AD

A lot of that is luck those games could have gone either way they were that close.

Its about getting to the dance something Burke hasn't been able to do in Toronto

Perfect. the third pick could land Grigorenko, and with many top prospects being D, Leafs could land that Belarussian with the blown out knee or Filip Forsberg with #5-#7.

So, what you're saying is that when Wilson is handed a great team, he's a decent coach.

Cool. What happens when he's given a roster like Phoenix? Or Ottawa?

Those teams are coached by men who get great results out of what they have and don't complain becuase they don't have every single thing on their wish list.

Give this team an elite goalie, a 6'4" 80+ point centre, a better bottom six, and another top six winger (or whatever else people claim we need) and yeah, Wilson would probably get better results.

Hell, he might even get them into the playoffs.

But, quite frankly, if the roster needs to be that good for the coach to look like he's doing his job properly, then there's a problem with the coach.

Far better coaches have gotten far more out of less.

- Leeman4Gilmour

All I was saying is the fan base holds Wilson accountable for having a horrible team when Burkes has had 4 years to put something better together and has failed!

Yeah they could play the 1-3-1 but there is something those teams you mentioned all have and that's good goaltending.

Wilson could 1-3-1 all game the leafs would still lose because of give away's and poor tending.

This problem is Burke's

Burke has his hands all over this he want's that up tempo game but the roster is not good enough to play it.

Forsberg had a good WJC showing so I would think he gets the nod over Galchenyuk since they are similar players. I think I would actually cry if Burke took a D man over him... I'd get over it as Trouba, Dumba, & Rielly are gems but Galchenyuk is what we've been asking for up front since .... uh... Gilmour?
