I distinctly remember a LOT of Sens fans bashing the poop out of Kuba and how bad he was. Thats changed.

Wilson Is setting the kid up for failure, common how many defenseman that play great defensively come to TO and suck, but are key players everywhere else. Komi sucks here francois beauchemin sucked here, gill sucked here, Even Dion looks as if he is always lost in his own end. The fact is we have no system defensively, so the players with no offensive game just look useless all the time. its also why we have so many forwards that do so well here, Mac, Grabo, lupul, even kessel would not put up numbers like they do if they had to play into a defensive system.

Maybe he'll hit his prime when he's 34? You've still got time.

it certainly is... and news to Schenn as well - when did he get a raise?
- Big_Lightnin

I know his cap hit is $3.5 but thought his actual this year was over $4. All too high in any event.

If this team were to trade away Schenn it would be exactly like the last 10 years.

Which has been like a merry-go-round that never ends and with each revolution the people we let off punch us square in the co ck.

apparantley you didnt watch last season

those two were very good together

- Dozzer

Dozzer....... I have not been on the Schenn band wagon since year 2. You will never find any post of mine that would give any amount of praise to him. I saw flaws in his game in year one. They didn't improve in year two. Nor year 3. He is what he is. A mediocre defensemen.

Also, I never drank any of the Reimer Kool Aid either....... ya, he won last year, but I always felt, that once the shooters in the league saw once or twice that all his flaws would be exposed.

I was right.

He is Raycroft/Carrey and all the other flash in th pan first year goalie wonders

And that franken smile on his face after each loss is goddamn annoying

Dont be a fool kid.
Every hockey expert and their mother had Ottawa pegged at 11 - 13th in the east.

OTT 2011/2012 = TB 2010/2011 = overachieved.

but if karlsson is putting up the same pts he is this season (which i doubt), hand him the norris trophy at the all star game. he's having a fantastic season! a big reason why OTT is playing over their heads. but hey, they're in, we're out...nuff said.

schenn is simply not built for the kind of defense wilson is trying to run.. if they went to a zone coverage schenn would be fine.. and he needs to back off the hitting a little.. too often it puts him out of position.

reimer is big.. but his glove hand is weak.. watch shooters.. 90% of the time they target is glove side.. and try to get him moving side to side.. the book is out on that kid, if he doesnt improve that aspect of his game his nhl career will be short lived.

Spezza back to life is one of the biggest. Back to his old form at last after those injury riddled seasons.

Trading him now will be like Colaiacovo + steen all over again, some players just don't hit their primes right away.

You are correct, even though I don't think Schenn is good. The biggest problem is that Leafs really don't appear to develop their players. I guess Sens had to, because that's all we had early on, but most of the really good players to come out of Ottawa (Hossa, Alfie, Havlat, Spezza, Chara) were developed here. I know Chara came from Isles but he developed his game here.

I will agree with you on all counts. With the caveat, most defensemen are fine in a defense first system.

On Reimer, you have hit it bang on. The book is out, and it is a National Bestseller

noename......... hindsight being 20/20

I am giving you a do over........ would you still have picked Schenn at number 5?? Knowing what you know of him, and not knowing the rest of the picks. Would you have picked him in the number 5 slot??

- faceto27

who else was available around him that wasnt a complete surprise (like Zetterberg late pick surpirse kinda thing)?

not so much that Reimer's glove is "weak" as it is the fact the "blocking stance" involves the glove being dropped, and the goalie crouching too much. Still doesn't make sense to me the way they are coached to setup against a shooter - no room for reaction time on a save.

yeah... i never saw schenn as a top two i should admit. I thought mid pairing shut down guy

problem is wilson with his offense and defense he likes to run.. there is a disconnect there

wants to d-men to press forward on offense and then collapse on defense.. that to me, makes zero sense. you are consistantly putting your d-men out of position by doing that.. you ask them to press forward on offense and then magically be back deep in their own zone when the puck gets turned over.. and vice versa.. you have the D collapse in their zone and then ask them to jump into the rush?

ffs pick a method wilson
