I guess the Teachers Pension fund wasn't concerned about the bottom line

They dont understand buisiness the way bell and rogers do . They were still making good $ but the new owners will want max return on investment

No , didnt want Nash but Burke is out of touch with todays game and is a poor judge of talent. He is also to pig headed for his own good
- jiri_crha

I might actually agree with respect to Wilson....he needs to figure out what needs to be done with these players to use them effectively and fix things. Hes being stubborn and assumes constant line changes and goalie changes will stir things up.

These arnt 10 year vets hes dealing with....he needs to instruct better and make changes accordingly. Hes coaching as if he has the Sanjose roster or Canucks roster....

Someone pointed out that JFJ didn't trade for Pronger because of Steen had to be included.

They pointed out that Talk for the NYI 1st overall (Tavares) discussion ended because Schenn was being asked for.

Burke didn't want to add Gardiner in the trade for Nash. See a pattern?

Burke is overvaluing some pieces he has and I think it goes with Reimer and Gustavson too.

Get a bonified #1 goalie this team can count on for 5-8 years who is in their prime. Overpay for it. Keep Reimer as the back-up. Pogge, Raycroft, Toskala were all supposed to be the saviours, enough already.

Up until Monday, I would have given Burke a 9 out 10 on his performance to date.

If he truly could have gotten firsts for Kuli and Mac, then he blundered there. They are third liners.

He dropped the ball on that one.

I believe he left the team as is, and didn't sell off was to give RW one final kick at the can. There was no way the Leaf could make the playoffs by selling off Mac and Kuli for picks.

Doubt they can make the playoffs now regardless. Past two games were must wins.

They failed horribly on both nights.......... like I mean, real bad

- faceto27

Again....conditional pick for Mac and Kule is having a horrid year and will be a gem again soon enough. Why move those guys for picks and bring in your youth and expose them to this crap...they are currently on a winning team gaining needed experience. No use bringing them up right now. Not smart.

I agree....and hoped for it a few days ago...too late now.

And Gardiner for Nash....was more like Gardiner, Lupul + for Nash....didnt make sense. Howson didnt WANT to move Nash...so rather than accepting it, he was trying to sell his toonie for a 5 dollar bill.

also, the MLSE board has 2 new members. That's it. Essentially the same people making the decisions, and they'll at the very least give Burke the length of his contract (though I think that is 1 more year anyway right?)

Burke won't be fired, he must may not be extended. (if they miss playoffs again next season).

Bingo

Not sure why people are thrashing Schenn and Riemer so much. They've failed over the course of 1 season, Wilson has failed for 4. Schenn and Riemer also have a track record of being the teams best player in their position some point in their career. It's not like either have been highly touted and brought in only to struggle. Riemer put the team on his back last year, he is capable of doing so and therefore has the potential to be a #1 starter. The fact that Wilson is forcing it on to him when he's clearly not fully recovered is bad decision making, especially when Gus played fantastic hockey in Jan.

There is a difference..The teacher purchased the leafs as a investment the big money was made by increase in value/investment..Bell and Roger paid a boatload for MSLE an investment that likely wont get the return in increased value like the teachers did for first investment...(Some claim the reason Teachers sold because they felt MLSE had near max in terms of real value)..It gonna take time for Bell and Rogers to get to the break even point considering what they paid for MLSE..

Bell and Rogers are media/communication company's and there a load of coin to be made for them if the leafs are in playoffs, a load more than just gate revenues..

Gus's last game sunk him though. Just terrible. Only reason he's getting back in is because Reimer's been equally bad, or at least unable to be better.

They need to go 2 mins without getting scored on to start the game. Hell get the first goal.

Why the hell Wilson started Schenn and Gardiner last game, when he knows the team is struggling out of the gate - Why would he not start Dion and Gunnar - makes no sense at all...

yup - but then he won't be back next year.

If Leafs miss the playoffs, and Marlies go on a deep run, Eakins will be coaching the Leafs next year.

I dont like us all when were like this

Why cant the Leafs go back to playing half decent hockey and challenge for a playoff spot while keeping things exciting night in/night out. Why cant we all go back to rainbows and unicorns and world peace, while discussing who we love the most of the team, not who we hate....

Ah...those were good times....
