Maybe Miller and Gaustad were close, doesn't mean the rest of them are. Just because Darcy identified those guys as the core, doesn't mean they're all best buds.

I remember hearing that . F' the core . we have been saying it for years now .They have grown too comfy on the team and now that there is a new core ready to replace it . things might start to get better

You can't renegotiate contracts in the NHL. The only way to do that is to buy them out of the current one and then have a new one drawn up. I believe Ottawa did this with Alfredsson a few years ago.
