No way you were at the game in Cleveland? I thought the attendance was surprisingly good. Game day presentation was kinda silly too. We sat 28th row in Rochesters shoot twice end. There were quite a few Sabres fans in that end.

I was with a friend that lives out there. He has seasons and he said the attendance isn't usually that high. It was scout night (if you didn't notice) plus they had the Cavs players there. They do that type of stuff a lot though I guess. There definitely was none of that stuff at the game in Rochester. But then again, the fans here aren't really into that gimicky stuff in the first place.

I was the only Sabre fan in my area. I was just glad they didn't get shut out. That would stink. The game this weekend was against Lake Erie as well. There was a 15 round shootout to decide the game.

Trade Vanek, sign Parise.
- theblueandgold

I thought about the idea of trading Vanek and the 2 firsts in a potential haul to make a run at Rick Nash....

I'm sure we weren't on his "list" but that situation is bad and it could turn into a big poker hand and whichever one will tip their hand first: Howson or Nash.

If Nash wants out bad enough, which I'm sure by now he does and I'm Howson I'm negotiating with everyone and anyone and accepting the best offer available and telling Nash to take it or leave it. Plus, in this situation we could always have Terry Fuel up the Jet and convince Nash to be a Sabre?

Right but it's about 3+ mill more than you had them as having.

That was the point.

3 mil can get you a good hockey player these days.

- dadeadhead

The point was about acquiring a stud like Parise which will take at least 7-9 mill to get .

You wont get that with 3 mill in cap space now will you?

Which brings me all the way back to my original point that the Sabres will have to purge roster cap players to acquire a player like Parise etc..

Is there an echo in here?

Rather use the 1sts to draft or trade for a center.

Winger isn't a need unless we can move Staff or Leino and get Brown.

I have a feeling that Howson isn't gonna make it to the draft. He's pretty much screwed that team. If the owner keeps him, that tells you that the entire organization is a complete joke at this point. Howson handled that entire situation wrong.

I was surpised they play where the Cavs play. I thought when I bought the tickets it would be at Cleveland State college or something. That arena is definitely more setup for basketball.

How about the two reversed goals? That was bizzare. Sounds like you got to see a much better game in Roch.

Yes since that was the point I origianlly brought up as to why you can move Roy and not need roster players back.

Yeah but if you moved Vanek Nash fills that role...

I don't know where this info of Brown being a Center came from, he's better on the Wall but takes draws. As you'll see Kopitar has been Brown's center.

Didn't someone mention something about Craig Patrick being brought in by Columbus?

So you'd rather trade Roy for picks/prospects and load up at the Draft this year?

Gotta think if you had 3 1st rounders you could definitely move up to the top 3-5 picks and get that Center.

So you're sending out a guy who scores more and makes less to essentially bring in a guy who's scored less, takes more penalties, and makes more money per year for a much longer period of time. Thanks, but no thanks.

I've never heard of Brown being a center. He's always been listed as a wing.

?????

No clue but moving Staff out and bringing in Brown(in the same or separete deals) is a big plus for me.

Nash makes more than Vanek and I'm begining to think he might be part of the problem in Columbus.

I was referring to the presser afterwards where he said that Nash approached them asking for a trade. He should have kept that to himself.

No I'm saying you can do this. You can cut cap costs that way then either flip the bounty or add it to what you already have and take a run at Galchenyuk or Stastny or insert desired center here.

Getting Hodgson and getting a 1st for Goose opened a ton of option for the Sabres.

lets see what they with those options.

Is this that "pot and kettle" thingy?

I think so especially when mine was much more thought out and went in depth and not just some generic post.

Its all good though.

I just think if Rick Nash ever had any semblance of a team around him he's flourish... Who have his Centers been throughout his career? Not very helpful for him IMO... If you gave him a great Center I think he would average 40+ goals a season.

Hense me seeing him as maybe part of the problem there.

You keep that to yourself and in the organization.

He just lowered what they can get for him now. See Heatley
