Sather really has turned over a new leaf. It's well known he doesn't generally speak with the media, but he was actually on the Power Play on XM yesterday afternoon. In regards to Nash, he said he didn't want to blow up the team, that they were in first place, and he believed in them.

He did mention Kreider, saying that he thinks he will be a top forward in the league. While not actually saying the words, he alluded to the fact that he thinks Kreider will be signed and playing for the Rangers after BC's season ends.

Ahoy... Can someone please fill me in on Chris Kreider? Obviously a youngster on his way up but is he supposed to be playing for NYR sometime soon?? As in, this season or is he going to be trying out for next season? Also, could someone please just give me a realistic idea of what the team (lines) could look like next year with CK in the team as well as, perhaps, who will be missing/left out and possibly added from UFA? Cheers.

Think it's Sather turning over a new leaf or realizing that he isn't as hated as he used to be?

With the team at the top of the league and the fans generally happy with the direction they are headed, I think Sather understands that he's not the GM/President with a bulls eye on his back; unlike in year's past.

He's a sly fox and he knew he wasn't well liked in NY for many years. Team was struggling to succeed, poor free agent contracts doled out etc., etc.

But now, the team is not struggling, the organization is pretty strong all the way through and everyone is starting to criticize him less than before.

Self aware man, if anything else.

I guess it all depends if they trade for nash or add parise/somebody else. If kreider signs I expect him to be on either the 1st or second line next season. He is a big, fast (hagelin speed) power forward and has a lethal shot. Plays the left wing.
btw, do you really live in Auckland?

Hey, thanks! That goal is sick! I can't remember who has an expiring contract this year but will the addition of CK mean a player like... Hmmm, Feds or someone (I dunno) will simply miss out? Especially if we add an UFA in the off season... We could have an even more exciting team, even though I like all the guys on the roster now, I'm looking forward to having a little more 'punch'.

Yeah I live in Auckland!!

Very cool. How did you become a rangers fan living in NZ? You are correct, Fedotenko is on a 1 year deal. Mitchell and Prust are also free agents after this season. Can almost guarantee Prust will be re-signed.

My first taste of NHL was "He said we will win game 6... And, he has just picked up a hat trick!" Rangers fan for life. (Well, that is a bit of a lie - I actually was quite sour when we acquired Scott Gomez... Can't stand that guy) But yeah, the local sports store had a NYR jersey back in the early 90's and I snapped it up... Rangers blue Just all came together really.

EDIT: We used to get NHL kinda regularly on SKY Sport back in the early 90's... Now we get one game a week, usually... This week it's Boston v NJD... Last week was the NYR v NYI... So I was pumped until the result. Haha.

Gary Thorne's best call ever & he was the Devils PbyP guy for years although that was a ESPN broadcast call. I always thought it was a shame there is no Sam & JD call of that game cause at that time MSG was blacked out from doing games in Jersey.

I remember when he blocked a shot vs the Devils with his foot. Obviously my mind went straight to last year with Chara's shot. Glad its not too serious.

How do you guys feel about Clarkson not getting at least a fine for leaving his feet? I don't think there was intent to injure but he did leave his feet. I thought a fine was in order. I also thought the league would have addressed the elbow by Okposo on Cally last week. Considered a head shot, no?

It was a d bag move but I'm fine with it being done with the penalty he got. He avoided going with Rupp though that time but easily dropped the gloves real quick after he hit Dubi high seeing he was already dazed. Hopefully he is challenged next game. Clarkson usually does a good job of avoiding fighting the big boys, classic spot picker.
