so??

at the end of the day, youre making assumptions, right?

bottomline, you dont know if a 2nd, 3rd, 1st, crosby, my grandmothers piss or goldie locks was offered. its all assumptions.

dont knock the guy for thinking a 1st might have been available (granted, based on nothing) and than you come along and think the deal was a 2nd or 3rd (based on nothing). if youre gonna knock the guy for making a pulling-it-out-of-your-ass offer than you sure as poop shouldnt make one either....

I have a hard time believing that Garth would have turned down a first rounder for PAP. I bet that was his asking price and noone offered it.........just my two cents.

bailey back to the wing?
- LetsGoIsles

Heaven forbid they let Bailey play 2nd line center. Or actually flank him with the organizations highly touted Okposo, or Grabner. Once again, Josh Bailey gets the shaft. Correct me if im wrong here, but wasnt Josh drafted as a center?

If im josh bailey i cant be happy with this organization. They let every other draft pick play top minutes, and play with the organizations top players, EXCEPT Bailey. From Okposo, to PA, to Grabner, to Fransy...........EVERYONE has had a shot to play with each other EXCEPT JOSH BAILEY

Please let us win.

Whats the overall consensus as Cap fans of Dale Hunter behind the bench?

I personally feel your team needs to get rid of this Russian thing and stop kissing Semins butt. Get rid of that waste.........i dont care how talented he is. Hes got no heart

I'm just saying I heard him mentioned that was your point. He's still developing. that team as a whole is under achieving.
- Cptmjl

Right and someone asked why I would trade this years first rounder when there are a lot of dmen coming into this years draft. My answer was that it takes time for dman to develope.......just look at Victor Hedman.

Ding, ding, ding, very much agree. He will be gone. Guy will put up more points btn now and the end of the season and Toronto or Carolina will over pay.
- Cptmjl

Im as big of a fan as the next guy (or gal), but lets not get carried away when PA says he wants to be a part of the good things that are coming. If that was the case he would sign before July 1.

What he really means (and i dont blame him to be honest) is : This is my one chance at UFA, and my one chance to RAKE IT IN........and hes going to. My guess is Montreal

I distinctly remember Jason Blake saying during his last season that he liked it on long island, and would like to remain an Islander but that he was going to test the open market........very similar to what PA was saying no?

From newsday during the 06-07 season.....

"I'd like to stay," Blake said. Referring to Islanders owner Charles Wang, he added, "I like Mr. Wang, and I think it's a good organization with a good bunch of guys. But there are 29 [other] teams. I'll test the market and see what's out there for me and who wants me."

What do you know, he liked it here, but he left...........just like PA is going to do. Snow pooped the bed on this one. He's gonna try and sign PA for "fair market value", and PA is going to try and get his career contract come july 1st.

My point is that the islanders are building around Tavares, who IS A FINESSE PLAYER. There cannot just be finesse players on a team. You need a mix. The islanders this season did not have that mix.........they had more of that mix last season.

NOWHERE did i say that you cannot have more than one finesse player. However this teams first line center and cornerstone is JT. I personally dont feel PA is a first liner. So now where does PA fit in? Hes not a 3rd or 4th liner, and the islanders are made up of 2nd liners..........so I felt PA shoulda been traded for a 2nd rounder, and that pick along with this years first shoulda been packaged or a legit NHLer.

- kindlyrick

But why not trade the OTHER second liners that arent doing anything... Why would the one that is contributing night in & night out.. NOT have a future with this team????

Because hes a UFA and not willing to negotiate a contract until the season is over. Meaning.......he's gonna taste the open market......A.K.A he's going to the highest bidder, which will NOT be the cash strapped isles.

Also, i hate to say it, and im sure i will get crap for it, but i highly doubt PA is giving it his all for the "playoff run". The guys on his way to becoming a UFA this summer. He's never really had a life changing payday, so if he puts up the numbers this year, his life is set. He's playing for that contract, make no mistake about that.

YOU wrote THIS

"I'm sorry but PA is not part of the future to me. Yes he's put up points, but the isles cornerstone is a finesse player (JT). To me the isles have too much finesse and not enough grit. Look at every successful team in this league. They all have sandpaper. Matt Martin is only one player."

NOTHING in that statement was about contracts.... Before he had no future with the team because JT is a finesse player & god forbid the team has more then 1. NOW he has no future with the team because of contracts...???

Yeah, Hows that working out for Nino? And three of the four guys you named were either waiver pick ups or free agent signings not draft picks.

Have a conversation with the guy and you would be happy to know that's not the case. I'm sure it's part of it but the guy wants to win and he cares as much as we would hope all the players do. He wants to win and that is his motivation.

Anyone that wanted nabby to be traded, ask yourself and answer me this. How in gods name are they making the playoffs without him?

Edit: without him next season

Cash strapped? Regardless of their cash situation, the isles find themselves a mile under the cap floor, they have to spend that cash regardless. I'd rather have parenteau then 3 washed up vets taking playing time away from kids like cizikas, rkhshani, etc...

How about some coaching changes...like head coaching changes... If the Isles don't make the playoffs and they probably won't I would think Crapuano will be demoted (or promoted) to zamboni driver.
- kear20

After Cappy gets fired, if that happens at some point, the next head coach of this team will be Doug Weight. You can bank on it. Doug was a great hockey player and very well respected around the NHL. However, that does NOT make him head coach material. Once we move on from Cappy, I want a LEGIT head coach with NHL experience in here. I am sick of the coaching experiments already. Legit coach needed. No more Cappys, no more Gordons, no more Sterlings....
