O'Reilly is a Restricted free agent.
Any team can offer O'Reilly a contract in the off season.
Colorado gets the final say of course. - TerryPegs
O'reilly also has to sign it... and he may not want to go to buffalo? |

Myers's increase takes the majority of that. Sabres would have under 3million in cap space if Ennis (2.5) and kaleta (1.25) were re-singed to those prices. (i went in between your estimates). That is the every day roster with ellis and tropp, doesn't include extras. Parise will probably end up around 7.5 million a year - bonzo11
There will be other roster players that will be moved to make space, you must have missed that point.
The Sabres are in a very good spot right now , picks etc. |

Why dont guys want to come to Buffalo?
I am so sick of the stereotype made of Buffalo.
You can think what you want I suppose out of ignorance , jealousy or possibly stupidity.
Oh well. |

Well my main point is.... its not as simple as a team looks at an RFA player... goes "I like him... Im going to sign him" and wait and see if the team matches.
I would imagine a lot of offer sheets aren't signed for a number of reasons... main ones being money and location.
Perhaps if O'reily wanted to leave colorado... he would only want to do so for a immediate cup contender?... or perhaps closer to his family? Who knows!
I was just saying the player needs to to SIGN the offer sheet and then go from there... you can't just assume he would sign it and all is well. I also winked which inidicated I was just playing around. |

Just to go a bit further and a different route , if Darcy wants Parise I am sure he already knows what it will take to get a deal done with him and will do his best to make sure the cap space will be made available to sign him. |

maybe stafford?Even moving both would only give them 10 million to fill 4 rosters spots and extras. Parise will get overpaid, probably 7-8 mill for 7+ years |

There is Roy, Leino, Sekera, Leopold.
There are options to shed salary for cap space.
Last thing I will mention that I am not sure many people know but ,Stafford and Parise are very good friends and was in his wedding party.
Having good friends like that does help , it certainly is not a negative.
If Darcy wants Parise, he will make room for him I'd bet.
There are options available. |
